FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa based rock band, Madison and Fifth Rocks Zaphod Beeblebrox with their official CD Release Party (SOLD OUT)

Ottawa, Canada- -January 23, 2010- The Official CD launch party of Ottawa’s newest upcoming rock band, Madison and Fifth played Zaphod Beeblebrox to a sold out audience. The five-member group brought the audiences hearts to a standstill when they performed to a screaming audience that asked for two encores.

This CD launch party showed that there is still a pulse in Ottawa and that if you provide the right sort of entertainment the crowds will descend on your venue. Zaphod Beeblebrox was not only sold out but the lineup outside the club showed that Madison and Fifth’s new album will be an overnight success. Not only did they play the music on their CD but Layo, Johnny 5, Etto, Jimbo and Carlo provided the audience with three new singles; Worth the Wait, The Fight and Friend of Mine. All their songs are original and come from the heart. They also donated a portion of their CD and t-shirt sales to the Red Cross for the Haitian Relief Fund.

The group was also incredibly gracious and modest about their successful event. Etto remarked “the fact that the crowd was singing along with them was probably the best experience of his life!” They chose their venue not only because many greats have started out there but also because it provided the right atmosphere for a cozy intimate concert with just 300 people.

"Ottawa’s Newest Canadian Rock band sells out Zaphod Beeblebrox!"

MADISON & FIFTH

Ottawa’s Newest Canadian Rock band sells out opening show!

Feb.16.2010 :: Ottawa :: By Vanessa Licari

Madison & Fifth took it to the next level showing its 300 spectators how to rock!

MADISON & FIFTH held their first Official Cd Launch party on Saturday, January 23rd at Zaphod’s Beeblebrox in downtown Ottawa. They performed in front of a sold out & very amazed audience of over 300 people. The first Zaphod’s has seen in years!

The band members include John Licari “Johnny 5” on piano, acoustic guitar & vocals, Leonardo De Socio “Layo DS” on Lead vocalist & guitar, Etto Provenzano on lead guitar, Carlo Palanza on drums and James “Jimbo” Hillock on bass. These are the talents of Ottawa’s newest Rock band “MADISON & FIFTH”.

Madison & Fifth otherwise known as “MN5TH” are an impressive group with immense talent. They sing powerfully, and play piano, strum electric & acoustic guitar and captivate you as they beat the drums to deliver a vigorous & unbelievable sound.

They create and compose their music and lyrics themselves, from life experiences that are relatable and inspirational.

You would be amazed to learn they have established their group just over the past 6 months. Pouring in hours of hard work, night after night to produce their authentic songs. At their first show as a band, they were humbled and surprised to watch as the crowd sang along to their songs, and cheered for two encores!

Their passion is undeniable, over the past 10 years, I’ve personally experienced this passion my brother John has for music. Playing guitar, and teaching himself to play the piano and to sing. Finally, the five of them have orchestrated and intertwined their absolute love for music.

These guys will impress you with their intensity and fascinating sound, they have come together to collaborate from their hearts, a unique and distinct tune. With favourites such as “Forbidden Fruit”, “The last time”, and soon to be recorded “The Fight”, “Friend of Mine” and “Worth the Wait”.

If you would like to know more about Madison & fifth you can check out their websites at www.myspace.com/mn5th or www.MadisonAndFifth.ca, become a fan on facebook, follow them on twitter. - Vanessa Licari

More on the band
Layo DS (Leonardo De Socio) Vocals, Rhythm Guitar: Layo’s unique, signature hard-rock-influenced vocal range gives Madison and Fifth a distinct sound. His lyrics are relatable to a wide variety of audiences along with powerful melodies and catchy hooks. His simplistic melodic-jive rhythmic guitar playing sits well within the mix of guitar players amongst the band.

Johnny 5 (John Licari) Vocals, Piano, Rhythm Guitar: Johnny’s exposure to different genres of music allows him to “think outside the box” during the writing process of songs. His intricate piano playing and acoustic guitar writing talents have allowed him to be the driving force behind MN5th’s fresh – new aged - unique sound. Johnny’s emo-style vocals serve as a nice compliment to Layo’s raspy aggressive vocal tones.

Etto - Lead guitar: Etto’s axe man guitar playing abilities compliment Johnny’s acoustic tempos and Layo’s simple jives. Etto can transform a simple chord structure into a series of captivating riffs that serve as a layered blanket over the rhythm guitar section of Johnny and Layo. Etto’s capability of writing melodic lead guitar licks has brought back an element which has been sorely missed in modern music for years – the ability to “tell a story” through a complimentary guitar solo.

Jimbo (James Hillock) Bass guitar: Jimbo can listen to a rhythm guitar section of a particular song and decipher a unique place for himself within the mix – at the same time – he will not stray away from the songs back beat section. Jimbo’s unique combination of blues, jazz and hard rock scales has given MN5th a groovy flow throughout their songs.

Carlo P (Carlo Polanza) Drums: Carlo P’s drumming sound is the foundation and the dynamic energy behind each Madison and Fifth song. Carlo P’s drumming has served as a loud, powerful and solid base for Madison and Fifth. Carlo’s metal-bashing influenced fills, along with Jimbo’s bass playing abilities, acts as a tight combination for a crisp beat-rhythm section.

History of the Band
The story of how Madison and Fifth was formed is a combination of coincidence, timing and destiny. All 5 members were born and raised in Ottawa, Canada. They had similar upbringings, attended the same high school and all had an undeniable passion for music. Throughout the years, collaborations with local bands had left them feeling unfulfilled and uninspired. In the winter of 2008, Etto approached his cousin John with the idea of forming a band. After a few initial jams, they were determined to find other musicians to collaborate with. Their friend, Layo DS, was asked to come out – and from that point riffs, ideas, melodies and song structures were being produced and drawn up. The embodiment of 3 different guitar styles and sounds made one unique sound – and that was the sound of MN5th. What began as 3 friends hanging out eventually turned into productive writing sessions and once the missing pieces (Carlo P and Jimbo) were added to the mix – the rest was history. Once all 5 members played together and began collaborating there was an undeniable chemistry that separated it from any of their previous projects. Each member looked at each other and knew that they
