"CD Reviews: Madness Becomes Method – The Wolfcode Trials"

Go to tracks 6 and 7, Madness Becomes Method advises. Thus, I am happy to oblige the request on their debut, The Wolfcode Trials.

Wolf is an album one can listen to anytime and anywhere, an interesting drum and bass heavy mix of pop, electronic, and post-punk-ska-nerd rock. Many of the songs are potential killer material, there are a few fillers and some that feel somewhat unfinished, but that is expected from a debut album wherein the band is still finding their identity. This can all be forgiven because there are strong personalities here that come forward musically and lyrically.

It is evident that MBM is an entertainingly quirky band, and there is a sort of drunk in a pub sing-along quality to some of their song, while others have a wild jamboree feel, as if the entire album should just collapse – but the aplomb, intelligence, and sheer freneticism with which Wolf has been executed is surprisingly smart. Wolf is not a conceptual album, but rather serious and smart the way a great comedian can be philosophical.

The entire album is kinetic, there is nary a pause for breath, the wild driver never stops, and even when they do slow the tempo they darken the mood, pull down the shades, and shoot passerbys with spitballs. Amidst this kaleidoscopic all-over-the-map approach everyone will surely find a personal favorite. I think this band should be allowed to wreak havoc live. Hopefully, they do. - What's Up! Magazine

Bio

This is a local review of us:
"Madness Becomes Method is a 5-piece rock band from Everett Washington. The style of their music changes dramatically from song to song, but each exhibit elements of rock, pop, and avant garde. Their high energy live shows tend to be borderline performance art as their lineup of instruments changes between each song (sometimes including the accordion, trombone, and multiple drum sets). Their live set often includes doses of punk, electronica, grunge, glimmery pop, ska, traditional russian folk, and plenty in between. Madness Becomes Method recently released their first album The Wolfcode Trials, available online at MadnessBecomesMethod.com."
