Mad Satta is a rapidly rising soul/funk group comprised of some of the tri-state areas most talented young musicians, founded by vocalist Joanna Teters and upcoming jazz bass player, Ben Carr.

Biography

Previously known as the The Joanna Teters Experiment, Mad Satta is a refreshing new band from New York who have already played throughout the Tri-State Area at such venues as The Falcon, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, The Lily Pad, The Bearsville Theatre, Cafe 939, and The Shrine.

Joanna Teters, a student at Berklee College of Music, is a brilliant vocal stylist with roots in jazz, blues, reggae and pop music. In the last few years, Joanna was selected as a featured soloist with the incredible “Rhythm of the Universe” project, released an album with Mad Satta (previously known as The Joanna Teters Experiment), did a tour in Puerto Rico with the well known reggae band Hi-Gate Soundsystem, on top of studying and performing with the Bob Marley ensemble and Lenny Stallworth’s Funk and Soul and P-Funk ensembles. Teters has also been a featured vocalist on a myriad of other artist’s tracks and performed in many venues in Boston and the tri-state area. She is backed by bass player and principle composer for the group Ben Carr (Yarrow), stand-out guitarist Ted Morcaldi, drummer Zane West as well as their newest member, Kevin Theodore (Ever Forthright) on keyboards.

They will be kicking off the Summer of 12' with weekends in Boston and New York.
