"Magazine Society Named Winner of the 2015 Florida GRAMMY Showcase"

Miami-based alternative rock group Magazine Society was named the winner of the 2015 Florida GRAMMY Showcase®. R&B artist Alex was declared the runner-up and singer/songwriter Dustin Seymour was named second runner-up. Presented by The Recording Academy® Florida Chapter for 11 consecutive years, this was the seventh Florida GRAMMY Showcase to take place during the Florida Music Festival and Conference. The judges for the event included members of The Recording Academy's Florida Chapter Board, which comprises of creative, technical and business professionals from the music industry, along with some additional experts from various musical fields.

Each of the six finalists, who also included Brie, Casey Conroy and Matt Shenk, shared an artist development prize package worth approximately $25,000, including CAD Audio, CD Depot, ddrum, Dean Guitars, iRig HD, iRig MIC, iRig PADS, Luna Guitars, and Shure. Additional services include studio time at Full Sail Studios Gateway Project in Orlando; a photo session with Miami-based photographer Jill Kahn; studio time at Morrisound Recording in Tampa, Fla., with services provided by producer/engineer Tom Morris; and studio time at Parkland Playhouse Studio, with engineering services by Jim Jonsin's team.

Sponsors include presenting partner FMF2015, along with, aXis, Birchmore Group, Complete Production Resources, GTC Media, IK Multimedia, KIND Bars, SESAC, Sonicbids, and WJRR FM.

About The Winner:
Magazine Society are a rock band from Miami consisting of Julio Berrones III (lead vocals/guitar), Danny Da Silva (drums), Kevin Kelley (bass), Joe Lamberson (rhythm guitar), and Miguel Quintana (lead guitar). What began in Da Silva's garage on a fall day in 2009 has developed into a strong and united group, determined to be more than your local rock band. They were crowned the Ultimate Miami Band at Stage 305 in 2012, and in summer 2013, Magazine Society released a six-song album produced by Jose A. Rivera Jr.

Magazine Society is an indie rock band that focuses on meaningful lyrics, cool guitar lines, and engaging their fans with entertaining live performances.  Find their self titled EP “Magazine Society” on Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, and other digital music platforms.

Magazine Society recently won the 2015 Florida Grammy Showcase, chosen from over 300 applicants and 6 finalists at a live performance before judges from The Recording Academy. The win continues to validate the band as commercially viable, which is a result of pouring years of hard work and creativity into crafting their unique sound.  Other recent noteworthy performances include opening for The Winery Dogs and Psychedelic Furs at Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale. Magazine Society has also played many prominent local venues in their home city of  Miami, including the legendary Churchill’s in Miami, among many others.

"We love the cultural diversity of Miami, which is naturally reflected in the music scene we have here", says Magazine Society's frontman Julio Berrones III.
