"This gal belongs on a major label, she can flat out sing!"

I reviewed Austin's six song EP a couple of years ago and was quite impressed at her maturity and vocal prowess.

In two years, her vocals have gotten better. Austin shows great control over her voice and she picked a great producer, Larry Beaird. He has helped to bring out the best in her, putting Austin's lush vocals right out front in the mix.

There are also a great bunch of musicians with Kim Parent providing backup vocals and Larry Franklin with some great fiddle and mandolin.

This gal belongs on a major label, she can flat out sing and just has a real musical voice and singing style. Beaird has a way of production that shows her at her best, his band is very tight and has a bit of a contemporary sound at times, but can still pull out an acoustic or more old time sound.

"Another Cruel Day" is brilliant, great lyrics in this upbeat tune, with great instrumentation.

" Life Is Good" is the perfect follow-up to the previous track with a positive focus. This is a contemporary country piece.

"Maybe Next Year" is a self-written song that has a more traditional sound. This reminds me of an Alan Jackson type song.

"Rain On A Tin Roof" is more acoustic, but has a haunting melody. These guitarists are great, they play country leads instead of rock. By the way, a great Dobro player inhabits this disc (Scotty Sanders), he, along with Beaird's mandolin, are awesome on this song.

By the way, I just love the way you hear the shimmering acoustic rhythm guitars, a real full sound without going overboard.

"I Wanna Be That Song" really is a masterpiece. A slow mid-tempo tune that really touches you deeper than your ears.

It has been quite a while since I heard a disc with twelve great songs. This is ready for radio, this ain't no demo. Really I do not usually get very excited about an indie disc, but this has no downside, it could compete with any artist on the top forty today.

If you are a fan of great music, real country stuff, check out Maggie Austin, she is the real deal.

"I picked her "GEORGIA CLAY ROAD" as the Dynamic Discovery on XM Radio"

She is a super singer. She is original --- something so very needed, as you know. I love all of the tracks, am especially fond of "WHAT DO I DO WITH ME".
Incidentally, I picked her "GEORGIA CLAY ROAD" as the Dynamic Discovery --- a spot for promising new acts/new recordings --- on my syndicated "Overdrive Top-Ten Countdown"!

"If this song doesn’t hit top ten I’ll owe you a steak dinner!"

Goergia Clay Road is a great mix of acoustic and electric guitar….a song that all females and even males can relate to regardless of age.
I may steal that line once the song becomes popular. Especially in my life.

"This Is One I Highly Recommend!"

“ GEORGIA CLAY ROAD ”- Maggie Austin
You know, sometimes we get so busy in life we don’t take the time to appreciate the little things.
I came upon a single from Maggie Austin last year that did well for us, and through connections with her promotion department, interviewed her on air. She talked about a single she was very proud of called “ Georgia Clay Road ” that she was in the midst of putting the final touches on it. Simply put, she drove back and forth from her home in Florida to Nashville- sometimes making the trip in the middle of the night- because she was, as we tend to call them albeit unfairly in the industry, “an unknown” artist.
She and her husband were traveling the interstate, and as Maggie looked out the window, she saw something that those who live in that part of the country see so much, that they don’t really see it. A simple, Georgia Clay Road . And she went on to explain during the interview that simply by looking at that road, emotions and ideas came into her head ….lyrical content a listener anywhere in the country could relate to. It was a Georgia Clay road for her. It could have been a Redwood Tree for me.
What is equally amazing about this song is how well it’s produced, and how Maggie sounds on it. It sounds like it belongs on radio stations across the country. The song is that good. When you live in Oregon , where if it isn’t raining, it’s snowing, if you can relate to a song about a Georgia clay road, you’ve hit a home run.
Maggie Austin is a name more and more programmers and music directors are hearing these days. I congratulate all programmers who have taken the chance on her stuff already, because you have a good ear. Country music stations looking to freshen up their playlist with a new artist that will mix well with today’s hottest country stars should pull out “ Georgia Clay Road ”, take it to their car, and play it as you drive. Imagine hearing that song on your station. I think you’ll find that the vocals, the production, and the “hook” will certainly give you a new “player” you can put in your lineup.
She’s paid her dues in the minor leagues. Maggie is truly big time, and just needs to be given a spot in your “lineup”. I endorse very few songs, established artist or not. This is one I very highly recommend.

"Maggie gives us twelve doses of "wind in hair, kick back, turn it up and let it replay.""

Maggie Austin - "Georgia Clay Road"

Maggie kicks off her summer with honors in the Billboard/CMT Songwriting Contest, for "Georgia Clay Road," which is also the title of her latest CD release. Maggie has really outdone herself on this one.

Maggie gives us twelve doses of "wind in hair, kick back, turn it up and let it replay." The melodies are a recipe of acoustic and lead guitar, dobro, fiddle and mandolin. This is a mix of solid musicianship with Maggie's crystal clear vocals shining on all the cuts.

Maggie takes a more personal approach on this CD with her song choices and writing ability. She takes writer's credits on two of the twelve cuts. Along with "Georgia Clay Road," "Maybe Next Year" gives you an insight into Maggie's other talents. This toe tapping original makes you want to move the chairs and open the dance floor. Several notable Music Row songwriters also lend their God-given creativity to the songs on Maggie's 2007 release.

Two of the up tempos, each of which had me reaching for the replay button, are written about life's ups and downs. Maggie's straight forward delivery is absolutely delightful and she does the writers proud on my two favorite tracks, "That's Me" and "Life Is Good."

The delivery and strength of Maggie's vocals on numbers like "Does Anybody Love Anymore" and "Another Cruel Day" reveal her heart and honest emotion. These boys will definitely make you take note and listen.

Maggie brings a full scale delivery to the up-tempo bluegrass ditty "Rain on a Tin Roof," then she continues on with a great fast-paced country song that grabs your attention on "What Do I Do With Me."

The elements of bluegrass, folk, country and soft rock swirled so effortlessly together, blended with her angelic vocals, will make first-time listeners into fans. An excellent choice for your 2007 CD collection. and a wonderful CAR TUNE.

Bio

Maggie Austin is a new artist whose vocals have won critical acclaim from both artists and music industry executives. Her 2006 accomplishments have earned her a listing of # 3 on Music Row Magazine's Top Country Breakout Artist List. Maggie's momentum continues in what promises to be another outstanding year with this singer/songwriter garnering Honors in the Billboard World Song Contest! Combining traditional country themes, with a cutting edge delivery, have made Maggie an innovative and ground breaking artist.

Born in rural southeastern Pennsylvania, Maggie learned at a very early age both country values and her love of country music. The youngest of five children, Maggie spent many hours on the farm doing the two things she loves best: singing and being with horses!
Like many young women today, Maggie had several dreams waiting to take flight. The morning after winning her first Equestrian U.S. National Championship, she knew it was time to begin the process of making her next dream a reality! Maggie took the plunge, walked into a recording studio, and came out with her six-song demo CD, Time and Again. Maggie wrote five of the six songs on Time And Again.

Several of her tracks, including her international releases "Taking Time," "Touchdown" and "Time and Again," climbed various charts. Country Stars Online says Maggie's songs "have a depth and emotion to them that sounds like they are from a much more seasoned songwriter."

That depth and emotion carry over in to Maggie's 2006 release, Georgia Clay Road. Maggie wrote several of the tracks, but this time around, also included songs written by some of today's best country songwriters. Maggie says she "wanted the songs on the CD to represent a journey: the journey of life - the good and the bad, the happy and the sad; times that we all experience. While country music is made up of a patchwork of songs about loss, I wanted those sad songs to have a positive outcome, where the message is that 'you are where you are until you decide to take action to change the situation

Maggie Austin became a proud sponsor for Cell Phones for Soldiers in early in 2005. She is helping to bring awareness to CPFS by informing the public and encouraging donations that are used to purchase calling cards for soldiers fighting overseas to call home to their families. "Being involved with CPS has been a wonderful experience," says Maggie. "It demonstrates how small ideas can grow large enough to move mountains!"

All in all, Maggie sums it up best: "My love of country music was born out of my love of country life. There is nothing like being in the barn on a sunny summer afternoon with a light breeze and hearing country music on the radio, mingled with the joy of the outdoors!"

There is no denying Maggie Austin's momentum. With her music listed in the top 20 of the most played songs in Europe, her debut U.S. release "Rain On A Tin Roof" climbed high on Music Row Country Breakout Chart and the follow -up to that release, "This Is Forever," was the most added song on radio and rocketed up the country charts as well. The global demand for her music is beyond contention. Her new single "Georgia Clay Road" currently at #49 on Music Row Country Breakout Chart and, on the Roots Music Chart, she is listed at #1 Above Brooks and Dunn,Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood!!
