Bio
Larry Mccoy was Born in Brooklyn, January 14, 1982. In the 80's there were many drug problems that his father fell victim to and wasn't around for most of his life. His mother moved him to Holland, Amsterdam at the age of 5 to get away from the dangerous New York environment. She passed away when he was 9 years old from a disease known as sickle cell anemia. His grandmother raised him and is a huge inspiration in his writing.
Growing up without either parent was the cause of his trials and tribulations. He hung out with the wrong crowd who were all about hustling. In his early teens, he witnessed the death of his best friend. While his best friend entered his building to get something for Larry, an airplane crashed into his building. Being left with the feeling of withdrawn, was the cause of bad grades in school.
At the age of 14, he briefly moved to Aruba where his cousin enticed him into rapping. Larry then became "Magic Eyez". They later formed a crew and moved to New York. The crew had a deal pending with Lightyear Records (Chris Webber was signed to as well) but the label folded. As a crew they performed at many club venues in Brooklyn such as The Ark and Manhattan such as Speed along with many other venues. Due to disagreements about the future endeavours, the crew split and Magic Eyez decided to go solo.
Magic Eyez decided to create his own label known as TNM Records (The New Movement) by adding key components Dizeyer (Jazzfire Ent) and O.C. (Night Vision Inc). He started working on a new project known as "A Real Album". Working with artists such as Cedric and Latisha Van Simon, he recorded some of his album in Amsterdam where he grew up for inspiration. He got huge recognition when performing in venues such as Ministry, Melkweg along with radio stations when promoting the project.
Reuniting and establishing a relationship with his father known as "Wardog", who produced 80% of his album. He was able to capture a huge following in NYC with melodyic beats and thought provoking rhymes performing at many open mics shows and competitions. Magic Eyez and team created talent showcases for talented artists such as himself to be able to perform in various venues in front of reputable industry representatives.
Larry Mccoy is an ambitious and determined individual in both his personal life and music career. Magic Eyez is focused on his new project "Retail Value" for which his first single "She Say" has been giving him some notoriety. Stay tuned for more to come.
