Bio

With a mixed bag of influences ranging from classic rock, to brit pop, to post punk, the band members themselves have a hard time describing their sound for others. In reference to 14 maybes, Issue # 46 of Amplifier Magazine makes references to the Kinks, the Beatles and Roger McGuinn among others. As with many a rock act, one can certainly expect a rawer, more aggressive sound from a live performance than from which the band has recorded. And with both Butler and Abercrombie writing and sharing lead vocal duties, there’s plenty of variety to be offered.
Also of 14 maybes, John Rogers of Ottotone Records had this to say:
From the wilds of western Georgia come Magnolia and their first full-length release “14 Maybes.” Fans of power pop will find much to like here. But it would be unfair to place such limitations either on the sound or scope of this release. Elements of classic ‘70’s rock collide with brit-pop to create an original sound sure to please the head-banger, and the lover of melody alike. Lyrically “14 Maybes” weaves songs of love and loss with vivid imagery to create a tapestry of well-crafted rock and roll.
Several of the band’s tunes have fared well on GarageBand.Com including the first song ever posted by the group, “Back to Before,” which landed track of the day in the alternative category. To find out what listeners had to say there, you can visit GarageBand.com
Currently the band continues to write for a follow-up to 14 Maybes and can be found playing live shows around Atlanta at venues like the Earl, Smith’s Olde Bar, the Star Bar and the 10 High Club.
