Ambient World Music. Thoughtful, poetic mantras sung with an "astounding emotionally exposed voice".* A mix of Jane Siberry, Sandy Denny and Laurie Anderson. Lush accordian drones, ambient piano, percussion, guitar, sounds & otherworldly harmonies soaked in spatial electronic ambience. The first album -ri-solv- was created in the ether via email between NYC + the South Coast of Australia. The result is something other than either. * Sarah Morrison
A natural integration of folk, indie rock, classical, world music & sound design. The lyrics are melodic mantras embedded in complex rhythmic structures.
Love, death, transformation, gender, religion and politics laid bare. Created largely on my own but with inspiration, sound additions, mixing and mastering from New York based musician/producer Brian Siskind (FOGNODE) (Siskind has also worked with Michael Schrieve (Santana), Bela Fleck and Clare Burson as well as having a wonderful body of his own work)
Formed in the ether between the cultural frontier (Wollongong, Australia) and one of the centres of global culture (NYC). The result is something other than either.
I have been holed up in an unassuming suburban house, perched under the astounding Mt Keira, surrounded by exotic percussive instruments, permanently plugged into my Mac and obsessively watching my inbox for too long.
It is time to head out of the studio and offer ri-solv to the world……… I hope you enjoy it : )

She has studied traditional Egyptian percussion with drum master Ibrahim el Minyawi she continues to play and teach this intricate and beautiful form of rhythm. These rhythms form the basis of much of her music. See www.drumming.mariantheloucataris.com for more information.
