I got to hand it to Metal Asylum. Three extremely unique and outstanding Iron Maiden tribute sets in two weeks – girl power with the Iron Maidens, flamenco-classical with Thomas Zwijsen and Anne Bakker, and hardcore with Maiden Arabia. Well-done guys!

Speaking to the Audience, they had mainly come to listen to Maiden Arabia. Maiden Arabia are a powerful band with a front man who could give Bruce a run for his money for onstage performance. Although this was the third time listening to an Iron Maiden at the Music Room in two weeks, Maiden Arabia was definitely the best cover band to imitate the style and honor the Iron Maiden legends.

A cute set of wigs worn by Selwyn, Randula and Connel to imitate their idols, just adding to the greatness of the Iron Maiden melodies they performed that night, carried by Raj’s power drumming and Steven’s complex melodies, and driven by the powerful metal soprano vocals by Elvis, who also lead the audience participation throughout the night… The energy performed by these guys was through the roof, and was barely contained by the Music Room stage, which seemed a bit small for them, especially for Elvis who needed more room to run around stage just like Bruce.

Maiden Arabia was kind enough to share their set list as follows: ‘The Wicker Man’, ‘Evil That Men Do’, ‘The Prisoner’, ‘Moonchild’, ‘The Clairvoyant’, ‘Infinite Dreams’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Alexander the Great’ – my favorite for the night. The band did a splendid job of this metal masterpiece. The lead was beautifully performed and shared by Selwyn and Steven. Amazing!

They continued with ‘Can I Play with Madness’, ‘Fear of The Dark’ – of course, this is the song where suddenly the front of the stage is packed as everyone gathers to sing along!

They concluded with ‘The Trooper’, ‘Hallowed be Thy Name’, and ‘Powerslave’.

The crowd was blown away by this pure trashing performance. PS - This writer caught one of the plectrums.
Again, well done to Metal Asylum for two weeks of Maiden madness!

Bio

Maiden Arabia pay tribute to the world’s greatest Heavy Metal band, the uncompromisingly brilliant Iron Maiden.

Dishing out a powerful and dynamic performance every time, Maiden Arabia put on the most accurate and explosive Iron Maiden tribute experience anywhere. They cut no corners and offer no half measures, both visually and musically, and have grabbed the attention of Maiden fans around the region. You can be sure to witness a spectacular, high-energy show complete with stage props, effects and on stage “Eddie” monsters that simulate a perfect Iron Maiden show. Combine that with musicianship that has the true Iron Maiden essence coupled the “win-win” combination of 6 wild Iron Maiden freaks playing the original “Iron Maiden” hits and you have an unbeatable formula that guarantees a night to remember.

Expect to hear any song written by Iron Maiden to be played by Maiden Arabia. They do not shrink from anything, having played numbers such as Hallowed be thy name, Alexander the Great, No more lies and Powerslave.

You will be hit with the driving style of McBrain/Harris as Randy and Rajesh lead through rhythmic gallops, whilst the dynamic lead trio of Steven, Selwyn and Connel create Maiden’s melodic signature sound. On vocals is Elvis, and unlike his name suggests, has it in the voice where it matters, with the range and power needed to tackle the classic Iron Maiden songs that recite the epic tales of fantasy, war and historical events that we have all come to know and love.

The band have played to packed houses and enthusiastic audiences throughout Dubai and continue to forge bonds and make new fans with every gig. Having performed on stage with original Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bailey in Dubai, they are a very popular choice amongst Iron Maiden fans both young and old. They will leave you with the chorus of Wasted Years ringing in your ears on your way home every time.
