"Maid for Music!!!"

Traditional Irish music’s newest sensation, the Maids of Erin, entertained a sell-out crowd at the Crown Morn Hotel in Cricklewood, on Saturday night. Earlier in the day the Maids of Erin had joined with Donncha O’Dulaing of Irish radio fame in a sponsored walk from Kilburn to Cricklewood in aid of the Cricklewood homeless. They had received messages of support and appreciation from the Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and from Dermot Ahern, Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The show was a packed hour and a half of traditional Irish music and song that held the audience enthralled. This was an audience of exiles and the music and song brought back memories of their younger days in Ireland. Some members of the audience expressed delight that the music and songs of traditional Ireland were being taken up with such passion and pride by another generation. The Maids made a lot of new fans on the night and, I’m told, they have been invited back to London to play at a Christmas concert in Harrow next month. (Irish Post, Oct 20 2007)

The Maids of Erin first album was released in early 2007. This is a 19 track album in which the Maids of Erin are joined by a dozen other extremely talented female musicians and singers.

The Maids of Erin are an all female group of Irish Traditional musicians and singers. This seven member, multi-talented, group are from the province of Munster in Ireland and have been playing together as the Maids of Erin since 2006. Individually they have all had success at Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann with national honours coming their way on a regular basis. Members of the Maids of Erin have toured Britain with the Irish Rambling House and the USA with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

Their first album was launched by the Mayor of Limerick, Councillor Joe Leddin, at the St Patrick’s Day Spring Fest 2007 where the Maids of Erin were the featured traditional group at the Festival. Since then the Maids of Erin have had concerts in Ireland and in Britain. They were the only Irish Traditional group to feature in Ireland’s national radio (RTE), Christmas Show in December 2007. Over the last year the Maids of Erin have continued to establish themselves as a top class Irish Traditional Group and they will be going back into the recording studio in Spring ‘08 to record a second album.
