Bio
Irish born and London living, Maighréad is a singer and writer.
She has recently been featured in the Sunday Independent as a rising star and in February 2011 her track 'In the Beginning' was used in Irish TV station RTE's Fade Street programme. In November last year, Maighréad's video for SEA was nominated in Best Female Video category of the Irish Television Music Awards.
A producer of electro / dance music topped off with a killer big voice, blogs across Europe and the US are picking up on her music over the last 12 months:
“Limerick-born, London-based electro-pop diva in the making with a fine handle already on the ins and outs of synth-pop machinations, vocal projections and sussed songwriting."
(Jim Carroll, On The Record Blog/The Irish Times)
"Like a sultry siren scion (alliteration high five!) of Annie Lennox, East London-based and Ireland-born Maighread Neligan marries heavily emoted lyrics with 80s synthpop-inspired funky instrumentation and arrangements, making it all boil down into a fantastic serum, one that has a ton of promise for the young upstart. She's got a great look and an unreal voice, so here's to hoping they both find their way to the forefront of pop in the near future. She's unsigned, so, you know, get on it music labels. Post-haste."
(Culture of Me, New York)
"Maighréad, she's a blonde bombshell who makes some serious electronic beats that hook you in. Serious stuff - edgy and provacative - once you've spent some time with Maighréad and her new single, I think you'll agree she's one to watch."
(EQ Music Blog, London)
