Bio
Mai trained as a pianist and a lyrical soprano for many years, until she found her true calling and love of jazz. "Classical has a form and structure that I'd come to know like the back of my hand. When I switched to singing jazz, I had to rethink and retrain myself to sing and approach music in an entirely different way – it's like learning a new dialect." Mai's performances showcase her varied musical background.
For the past several years she has been performing in the Greater Boston area in venues such as the Wilmington Arts Center, the Revolving Museum in Lowell, The Encore Lounge, and more. She has worked with Rusty Scott, Taunia Soderquist, Michael Aaron, Brian Patton, Jim Rice, and more.
She is currently recording her newest CD with Rusty Scott on piano, due to be released in 2009 and is currently booking dates to promote the upcoming album release.
