"The Best Rap Songs of the Year...So Far"

Squadda B- Fakest Year Ever: "...[Main Attrakionz] are also oddly traditionalist, and possess some Web 2.0 form of integrity that I don't quite understand, but at least can appreciate. Think: Mobb Deep with Wi-Fi." - SPIN Magazine

"10 Tracks - Crystal Castles, Girls, Fever Ray"

"5. These New Puritans vs Main Attrakionz - '3,000'
Just when you thought TNP could get no cooler, they go and cough this up. A hulking beast of a reworking, roping in Bay Area’s coolest new rap marauders Main Attraktionz to slur, spit and gurgle their way over the bad-boy baroque beats.
[Jaimie Hodgson, New Music Editor]" - NME

"Oakland's MondreMAN Takes Hip-Hop into Outer Space with 'Dope Since '91' Mixtape"

"Oakland's Main Attrakionz are quickly becoming a known name for their ability to make weird, blunted, left-field hip-hop without losing a drop of their Bay flavor, or even worse, falling into bad "underground hip-hop" cliches. They'll rap over productions from Warp signees. They'll rock with Clams Casino. But Main Attrakionz compromise their sound for no one, and member MondreMAN's latest mixtape is proof of that." - SF Weekly

"Main Attrakionz: Loud Pack"

"These clouds are as much herbal as mystical, and I think it’s Main Attrakionz’s grounding in a real, physical world that makes them as raw as they are abstract. Squadda and Mondre aren’t talking about riding a Unicorn up a rainbow into the cloud-cleavage of Mother Nature here; they’re talking about riding around Oakland, California. Their day to day life there, as they depict it, is gritty, sometimes dangerous (“Roll up to us if you think you colder”). A harsh reality, but one which, by striding head-space first into the vapours of weed-smoke and weird-music, can be transformed imaginatively, somewhat softened at the edges." - Fact Magazine

"Out the Trunk #2"

"By creating a sound miles away from anyone else and by releasing a steady stream of strong new music, the Main Attrakionz guys are finding a space for themselves without making music you could really call approachable. And it may just work for them; it's working for Odd Future right now." - Pitchfork Media

"MondreMAN of Main Attrakionz' "Dope Since '91" Mixtape"

"The Green Ova sound is instantly identifiable: dark grape, post-hyphy, complex and bleak beats, with deep couch-sinking, cough-syrup melancholy verses. It’s low key, under-heard and constantly brilliant." - The Fader

Bio

Based out of North Oakland, California, Squadda B and Mondre of Main Attrakionz have been rapping together since middle school. Their love for the music led them to drop out of high school in 10th grade to focus on producing music. Since that time, the duo has put in a huge amount of time in creating a unique and passionate sound that stands as one of the most interesting and refreshing in the crowded rap underground of today.

Squadda B both produces and raps for the group, and his production style is instantly identifiable and totally enchanting. Pulling from both Bay Area rap styles like hyphy and E-40-style mobb music as well as pop music, Squadda's use of booming 808s and bass kicks combined with ethereal, floating vocal clips simply sounds like nothing else out right now. Their collaborations with like-minded artists such as Lil B, Clams Casino, and Shady Blaze have added to the unique sound Main Attrakionz have cultivated over the last 2 years, a sound that is winning new fans every day.

Their steady stream of releases, including 2011 releases "I Smoke Because I Don't Care About Death" (Squadda B solo mixtape), "Shady Bambino" (Squadda B and Shady Blaze collaboration), "Dope Since '91" (Mondre solo mixtape), "Blackberry Kush EP" (as Main Attrakionz) and "Chandelier" (as Main Attrakionz), have turned heads not only among those in rap (such as Fool's Gold artist Danny Brown), but also have landed them acclaim from such indie-leaning sites as Pitchfork, Altered Zones, The Fader, SPIN Magazine, and Fact Magazine.

2011 also holds even more in store for Main Attrakionz, including the release of their next album, 808s and Dark Grapes II, in conjunction with Mishka NYC (Das Racist, Stalley, 87 Stick Up Kids). They are also playing a steady stream of live shows both in and out of their home turf, the Bay Area. More solo mixtapes from Squadda and Mondre, as well as collaborative projects with other artists, are set to follow as well.
