Bio

What began as a joke that eventually turned serious, the members of Mainlined have been making music together for almost 4 years. In late 2001, Jimi Button was introduced to Sean Lavelle while they were in high school. The two had similar tastes in music, and soon after, talk of a blues band began. One day, Button met a young drummer named Adam Andreini while Andreini was drunk in a Burger King parking lot. They jammed a few times, and this trio decided to form a band. Their first show was on June 7, 2002 at Zapp's on the last night it was open, & they were the last band ever to play at this historic San Mateo venue. For several months, the Junkyard Dogs would play shows all around the S.F Bay area. The band was notorious for its wailing blues tunes and drunken on-stage antics, and were well known in the local scene. But this "band" was short-lived, as many great acts are, and the band soon decided they'd had enough. They stopped playing shows, and a record was never put out. The three went their different ways. Button and Andreini took on a musical project with the infamous Pete Moss. Lavelle faded into oblivion. The band seemed to be dead.
In 2003 however, a friend of the band, Danny Dee, got in touch with Button. He had noticed the talent of the Junkyard Dogs and was interested in forming a supergroup of sorts. Button, Lavelle, and Andreini would meet once again in the garage to make some music. Instead of blues, the band played punk and rock & roll. Starting with some covers and a handful of quick originals, the band played as the Dead End Dogs, their name a throwback to their previous (albeit ridiculous) blues project. In October 2003, the band recorded the first EP, the Devils & Deviants EP. They played a Battle of the Bands at the Pound in San Francisco, and won. Invited back for a second round, they came in 2nd place out of 64 bands, which they thought was pretty damn good. They were also offered to play the Dallas Music Festival, an offer they declined only because of Dee's restraining order. The band's fan base began to grow.
In 2004, the band changed their name to Mainlined. Later that year, Andreini left to go to school in Hawaii, and Ryan Moyer stepped in to play drums. The band continued to play all around the bay area, from smaller venues like Rooster's Roadhouse in Alameda, to spots like Slims in San Francisco. As they built up a following, they began opening for national acts like War + Peace (with members from Dokken & Dio - straight 80's metal) and english punk icons The UK Subs. But due to a 1975 rustbucket Honda motorcycle with bad brakes, Lavelle was near-fatally injured in a crash on November 24th on the way to the Pound. His recovery was long and difficult.
In the months since the accident, the whole project has been on hiatus. Fortunately, Mainlined has recently been able to focus their energy on new material, and some new recordings are in the works. Keep your eye out for shows this winter 2005, and check the MP3 Page for tastes of our newest stuff.
