"Star on the rise: Maizee"

Monday July 31, 2006

11-year-old Maizee is hitting the music scene with her bubbly personality and amazing drive. Maizee can do it all and she's out to prove it on her upcoming debut album. Learn about this rising star right here in StarShine! For more information on Maizee, go to her official website: www.maizee.biz

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): I’m here today with Maizee. How are you?

Maizee: Good.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Why don’t you tell us a little about yourself for people who don’t know who you are yet?

Maizee: Okay. My name is Maizee. I’m eleven years old. I’m a singer, songwriter and I play the guitar.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): How long have you been singing?

Maizee: Since I was six.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Wow. Did you take any lessons or anything like that?

Maizee: Yeah. I take singing lessons, guitar lessons, and I used to take acting.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Ah, very cool. How would you describe your music?

Maizee: I would say probably like a more pop-rock, maybe more of a rock edge.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Who are some of your influences?

Maizee: Stevie Nicks, Heart and Pat Benatar.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Oh, so you like a lot of ‘80s?

Maizee: Yeah!

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): If you could work with anyone in the music industry, who would you like to work with?

Maizee: Umm…that’s hard. Probably Heart.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What was your first onstage experience like?

Maizee: My first was when I sang “The National Anthem” for a sporting event. I was like five or six. I wasn’t really that nervous and it turned out good actually.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Now you have an endorsement with Daisy Rock Guitars, what’s that like?

Maizee: That’s really cool. It’s cool being with all the other artists. You get a free guitar and fifty percent off every item, so it’s really cool.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Do you have any tour dates coming up?

Maizee: We haven’t really planned any of that just yet, but it’s in the works.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What’s your favorite song you recorded so far?

Maizee: Probably “Lies”. I just recorded that one and no one’s heard it yet. It’s about some people spreading rumors.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): When can we expect your debut album?
Maizee: Probably the end of summer.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): Would you like to say anything to your fans?

Maizee: I just want to say thank you. I have a lot going on and stay tuned!

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): If you could dedicate any song in the world to your fans, which song would you choose and why?

Maizee: “Angels” by Jessica Simpson. Well, she re-did it. Because I really like that song and it’s a powerful song.

Sandy (StarShine Magazine): What are your goals in your career?

Maizee: A superstar. [Laughs] I just want to be successful and record a good album.

Bio

With natural born talent and a mature work ethic, Maizee demonstrates a desire and attitude to make big waves in the entertainment industry. The Clearwater based Singer/Songwriter/Actress, who's been performing since she was 5 years old, has surpassed more than a few expectations regarding her age and abilities as a young artist. Her vocals are undeniably recognizable after only one listen. Her music appeals to teens, tweens, and even the "not-so-young" listener, because of her uncanny ability to immediately connect with any audience. Her acting skills enhance her energetic performances, and her musical talents bring a creatively disciplined edge to her work as an actress.
Maizee recently completed a four-song recording project with NuSoul Productions, who were drawn to Maizee's talents through a local talent search where they sat in as judges. When they got together for the song writing sessions, the chemistry was sizzling "HOT!", and when they hit the studio to record, things simply caught on fire. NuSoul Productions, who have garnered platinum and gold records working with The Backstreet Boys, Pink, Nick Carter, Aaron Carter, Willa Ford and others said, "Maizee is a definite STAR in the making!"
Maizee's original sound is filled with extremely catchy hooks and melodies, and is described by listeners as youthful and fun, yet deep and heartfelt. She credits female rock legends like Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar and Heart as major influences as she honed her musical gifts. Maizee is not concerned about mimicking what she hears on the radio. She is quite at ease setting her own pace and knocking out her own niche in the entertainment world. The result is a refreshing dose of COOLNESS!
