Majestic Twinsound

Majestic Twinsound , identical twins Ras Kehinde & Ras Tayo, is a Brooklyn based Reggae Sound-System. Twinsound, as they are affectionately called, have been an integral cornerstone of New york city's Reggae Roots & dub scene. An example of their stature, can be found on youtube, for their most recent production - A tribute to their mentor, Lincoln "Sugar" Minott at Club Sobs.

Music has always been a part of the twins life...being brought up in brooklyn by haitian parents.... there was always enough musical expression from the diverse Caribbean community they lived in. It started out for the twins as just going to the local record stores and buying the latest hip hop or reggae vinyl, eventually they had to get crates to keep them in -hobby turned obsession.One thing led to another, and eventually taking turns to play on their mother's wooden single/record player stereo ,wasn't cutting it anymore.. the need for a set of decks was evident.
A SOUND IS BORN:
Their first set of decks were the belt driven Gemini turntables, it was the same decks they used to master and perfect their mixing styles- which they became known for through their various mixed tapes. In a short time,with several trips to the electronic stores, Kehinde & Tayo saved up and brought a(n) amplifier, speakers, equalizer and a microphone- without realizing that they were building a Sound System... From playing for birthday parties, weddings events, school clubs to playing major venues in New york City, such as; Wetlands, S.O.B.s, BB Kings, Roxy and the Cooler to name a few, as well as, traveling nationally to various places like; Vermont, Boston,Maryland. N.Carolina, Atlanta, Miami and California, and internationally to places like; Canada, London, Japan & Jamaica, for a plethora of reggae artist- most notably, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear, Dennis Brown, Lucky Dube, Joseph Hill, Sinead O'conner, Mighty Diamonds, Beenie Man, Super Cat, Jr. Gong, Sizzla and Midnite. Majestic Twinsound have spent the past 15+ years Promoting Reggae music through their hi-powered Sound System, production company, label and Studio . -Ghetto Roots Records.
