Self-loathing, Fear & Doubt was the first single from our self-titled debut album released last year (March 2008). The single and other tracks received wide airplay on community radio (RRR, PBS) as well as JJJ and ABC National.

Bio
Major Chord was born from the death of our former band, sleeping pilot, in the Winter of 2006. We outgrew the small-time fun and games of playing with friends and set our sights on greater song-writing flexibility, sincerity, exploration, experimentation and strength. Not to be coy, but our major influence is life - the journey and poetry of the everyday chaos and peace, love and joy, criticisms and cynicisms.
I have a full life of many passions - my wife and baby son; working with people with a mental illness and of course, my pursuit of portraying all these stories and feelings through my music. Musically there are many many influences...Some perhaps sub conscious but the ones that have been critical are the greats - the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Dirty Three, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, Iron and Wine, Sparklehorse, Grandaddy, Flaming Lips, Wilco, Beach Boys and on it goes.
We are honest in our songs whether the subject is falling in love, the trials of mental illness, bible-bashers or societal mediocrity.
Our story-based song-writing is drawn from folk traditions but we couple this with a strong pop musical style, making our music accessible to everyone - you can take the lyrics or leave them, for there is always the music in which to escape.
