Bio

We all went to the same high school in Hamilton, Ontario. Dennis was in a band already, and Eric and Grant had been jamming together for a while. When Dennis' old band was done, Dennis and Eric got together and started writing some songs. They liked what they came up with, but they needed a bassist. So they recruited Grant to complete the band. Devin was later added as a second guitarist.

We started the band in 2002, and have written many songs. Most of which haven't made the cut, and we've gone through a couple of styles before writing some songs that we really liked and stuck with. The first seven of those we recorded onto an EP that was released April 2004 entitled 'Makeshift Policy the EP'. Even though Devin recorded the album with us he left the band previous to its release. So as a three-man band we of course had to change the dynamics of the band and the songs that we wrote. We started to really find our sound. So we added a couple of new songs to our arsenal and entered in June 2004 a battle of the bands in Brantford, Ontario. We ended up winning it. The prize was money for recording at A.D.S Studio Productions. For the rest of the summer we focused all of our energy on writing new songs for the new CD. We started to record in October and with many 12-hour days we were able finish mid-November. We released the new four song EP entitled 'At The Strike Of A Match' on January 21, 2005.

So that is our short and sweet story of how Makeshift Policy came to be and some of the things we've done. In general we are just and independent band playing shows as often as we can, and sharing our love and passion for music with others. With fourth members coming and going as well as different band names it has been an interesting few years; and we can't wait to see what the future holds. We want to thank all of you who have supported us in the past and who continue to support us. And finally we want to thank you for taking time out of your busy life to read about how three guys thought they were good at music and decided to make a band. See ya around.

love,
Makeshift Policy
