I got a chance to meet up with West Palm Beach female rapper Makiin. Now, this chick is about her business. "Makiin Mayhem" is a fresh abundance of female swagg. Makiin, a 23 year old South Florida native, has been involved in music since she was able to take her first steps. A full blown Jock turned hip-hop artist in 2006, has taken a thrill ride during her 4 years of experience in the music industry. Getting to know the real Makiin, this rising star from West Palm Beach has definitely been making moves lately. She first caught our attention freestyling in a Cypher with down south artist, and we were truly surprised. Makiin was the only female emcee, and murdered her freestyle. Megan Belcher, also known as her stage name, "Makiin", is West Palm Beach's first lady of rap. She has made a name for herself in recent months, and has even been compared to Iggy Azalea. ?Females MCs are not supposed to be student council president. They aren't supposed to have seven varsity letters in volleyball, softball, flag football, and soccer. No rapper, male or female, is supposed to go to college to get a degree in order to become a police officer. They aren't supposed to be like Makiin.

Born Meagan Belcher, the 25-year-old West Palm Beach rapper got the name Makiin during her senior year of high school from an ex-boyfriend. Originally spelled with one i, Belcher says she added the extra i because she did not want her ex to be affiliated with the name. Makiin is an exciting young white female from South Florida and is a refreshing young face in the hip hop industry. Her strong, girl-power lyrics meshed with the sexy swag in her delivery has everyone paying attention, not only to her music, but her looks as well. As a hip hop dancer, song writer, actress, and model, Makiin has a lot to offer the industry and everybody will soon join the wave she's creating.

In 2007, Makiin opened for Akon at Club 313 in West Palm Beach. By 2011, Makiin had broken into the world of broadcast. She was rapping in 2 commercials for the Hip Hop Shop on Fuse TV, acting in a commercial for Bass Speakers, and playing the role of a yoga teacher in a Women’s Recovery Center commercial.

Makiin dropped her first album in the streets on 8/9/10 labeled “Makiin Mayhem” and definitely lives up to the name, causing Mayhem in South Florida and all over the internet. Makiin was the featured "Hardbody Model" in the 305 Hip Hop Magazine (April Issue) and has been featured as “Artist of the Month” on several websites.

Last year, Makiin swept the poles in the Palm Beach Music Awards, and ended up winning "Best New Female Artist of 2011." Makiin uses her talents and puts on charity concerts " that raise money for specific causes. She calls them: "I do It for the Love of Music." She wants to make a difference in the world as a woman-powered Mogul, showing women all around that if they put their mind to it, they can accomplish anything. And, she is doing just that!
