CHRYSOSTOMOS (MAKIS) KARANTONIOU BIO

He was Born in Thessaliniki in 1981.At an early age knows the guitar and takes the first lessons with his father.Since 1988 his teacher has been Dimitris Ioannou.He has attended seminars with celebrities of guitarists like:Leo Brouwer,Hubert Kappel ,Aniello Desiderio,Roland Dyens,Jorge Morel,etc.
Since 1997,he has been giving concerts in various cities of Greece and abroad.
In 2002 he recorded a music suite called “Makis Suite” composed by Nikos Mamangakis,for the German film IEIMAT.
He recorded a solo guitar album which was released in 2000 by Polygram,entitled “Nikos Excursion & Mamangkakis parenthesis”.
In September of2003 he participated as a soloist with the symphonic orchestra and choir of ERT in the opera “EROFILI”by Nikos Mmagkakis,held at the Odeon Herodes Atticus.
In 2005-2006 and 2010-11 he envolves in a series of recordings (30 cd’s) by Nikos Mamangkakis which were released by company “IDAIA”.In May 2007 she participates as a soloist and performs in the concert for guitar and orchestra by Nikos Mamangkakis at the Athens Concert Hall with the Symphonic Orchestra of ERT under the direction of Andreas Pylarinos with in 2007 and for 2 years he was assistant to composer Dimitris Papadimitriou.In 2009 was released by the company “DIKTYO” his first personal album as a composer entitled “River weather.
In 2011 was released by Philippos Nakas Publications a book called “9 Songs” adpted for guitar by Chrysostomos (Makis) Karantoniou.
That same year released by the company “IDAIA” the album called “REMPETORIO” by Nikos Mamangkakis for solo guitar that he performs,The new personal album called “The Wanderer” with participation of various artists is to released in 2012.
In 2012 he forms “Makis Karantoniou Band” ,a unique ensemble combining traditional music instruments like Ney ,Clasical guitar with Viola ,violin,bass and Drums.
