Bio

Growing up in Montreal, Canada, Maks began taking classical piano lessons at a very young age, while being surrounded by a very musical family; his mother was a singer and his father was a guitarist. Maks also has 3 brothers, all of which are classically trained and and songwriters. Maks' classical piano training continued until his teenage years, when he completed his conservatory levels.

In high school, Maks joined the jazz band where he quickly became an award winning jazz drummer. He then transitioned to playing drums for local rock bands, where he was drawn to move beyond the supporting role of a drummer. Thanks to his musical training, Maks quickly picked up the guitar at the age of 14 and started on his path of becoming a singer/songwriter.

At the same time, Maks met his manager Chris Bryson, and together they formed a recording studio and began to produce Maks' writing. Maks used the studio as a platform to write & produce new music almost every day as well as to launch his own band, Break the Cycle, a hard rock group that drew heavily on his classical influences. The band remains a side project of his to this day.

Maks then moved to Long Insland, NY to pursue a degree in music composition at the Stony Brook School of music, one of the most respected programs on the east coast. And as Maks' writing and production skills in his late teens and early 20's began to mature, he began to diversify his songwriting, writing and producing in all sorts of styles - pop, country, electronic, rock, classical, fusion - for both himself and for others. By relentlessly taking on side projects with other artists, it helped him to hone what might be his strongest skill - being able to understand his client's vision and quickly produce material that conveys the proper emotion and sentiment.

After completing his studies, Maks moved to Toronto, Canada, where he began working with local artists. His first major break happened when he co-wrote a song for adult contemporary group RyanDan. This led to him writing multiple songs for RyanDan's second album, as well as to a few songwriting awards. Thanks to his ability to quickly produce multiple catchy ideas, he formed a strong relationship with the two singers from RyanDan and began co-writing with them for other signed pop artists.

After a couple of years in Toronto, Maks moved to Nashville to grow his network and find new songwriting opportunities. He expanded his studio and heavily focused on improving his sound production skills, evidenced by much of his remix work. This was to be able to offer a full suite of services that included being able to produce material right from concept to a professional mixed and mastered product.

Maks still lives in Nashville with his wife, and continues to take on projects with new artists while expanding his bank of material, his skills as an instrumentalist and his abilities as a songwriter.
