"Malcolm Lincoln made a record deal with Universal Music"

Tänavusel Eurovisioni lauluvõistlusel Eestit esindava Malcolm Lincolni debüütheliplaadi annab välja maailma suurim plaadikompanii Universal Music.
Duo esikteos “Loaded With Zoul” ilmub maikuu lõpus enne laulukonkursi finaali Oslos.

“Malcolm Lincoln on omanäoline artist, kellel on rahvusvahelist potentsiaali.”

Esialgu pidanuks “Loaded With Zouli” välja andma Vaiko Epliku plaadimärk Mortimer Snerd, kuid albumile levitajat otsides jõudis Eplik Universaliga kokkuleppele, et viimane võtab enda peale kogu teose väljaandmise.

Elektroonilisi vana kooli mõjudega träkke, nüüdisaegsemat elektromussi, üks lugu lausa drum’n’bass’i mõjudega. Üldine kõlapilt on igal juhul üsna erinev sellest “Sirenist”, mille järgi meid praegu tuntakse.” - ekspress.ee

"Robin Juhkentali peadpööritav aasta"

Siim Nestor kirjutab, kuidas alles aasta tagasi alustanud Malcolm Lincolnist on saanud Eesti popmuusika elektrilöök ja midagi, mida me serveerime tervele maailmale.

- ekspress.ee

"Eurovision 2010: ones to watch"

It was difficult not to like Malcolm Lincoln. A band named after an incorrect answer from an episode of Estonia's version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, their entry was weird and icy and detached in a way that, like 2008's French entry, was only ever going to bewilder the spangle-obsessed Eurovision voters. It was far too cool to qualify for Eurovision, which is probably the nicest thing anybody could say about it.

Bio

Malcolm Lincoln is a Estonian electro-pop group and the brainchild of singer Robin Juhkental, who is backed up by bassist Madis Kubu a.k.a. Fretless Rämbu at live shows. When performing live, the band is very live, characterized by synchronized movements and gallant costumes.

Malcolm Lincoln was formed in 2009. The band’s leader Robin Juhkental is currently studying road construction in university. In the past, Robin has sung rock’n’roll in bands Fond and Speed King. The band’s other member Madis Kubu aka Fretless Rämbu provides special live support and joins Robin for live shows. Madis Kubu: “Robin and me, we have a similar understanding of what a live performance should look like and therefore gigging together is pure joy.”

The band’s name is inspired from the TV game “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”, where a player was once convinced that the first name of the US President Lincoln was Malcolm and not Abraham. Robin says that it’s an apt name that also matches the band’s style of producing mostly electronic pop with jesting undertones.

Malcolm Lincoln has signed a publishing and recording deal with Universal Music Finland & Baltics, which has set high hopes on the new artist on both domestic and international level. The band’s debut album “Loaded with Zoul”, was released on May the 20th 2010 in Scandinavia and Baltics, and digitally all over the world.

“The album is built on modern electro beat supported by some really cool old-school tracks. The overall sound will be different from the competition song “Siren”, but still fit in the same format of bringing positive feelings to the audience”, comments Robin Juhkental on his debut album as a singer/songwriter and a frontman of a group.

Jarkko Nordlund, the executive director of Universal Finland and Universal Baltics, is convinced, that the contract with Universal and the great debut album are important steps in achieving bigger goals in music business in Estonia: „We would like to build Universal up as the most modern music company in our market and this requires also, that besides our first class international repertory and artists we are involved with the local production as well.“
