Bio

MALDITA – the new industrial rock from Brazil
Discovered by Nilo Romero in a presentation in Rio de Janeiro (Festival CEP 20.000) they signed with the seal Nikita Records and was recorded their first album. “Mortos ao Amanhecer” (2005), the record produced by Nilo Romero and Damien Seth has a very peculiar sound, specially the song “Anatomia” with over 550 thounds executions in Youtube. After their concert tour, in 2006, the band has gathered in studio to record their second album, “Paraiso Perdido” (2007). Now, this mature band has played with the music producer Peter Burckhauser. The fifteen tracks CD has highlights such as the song “Bastardos da América”, with a documentary video filmed in the Rocinha slum by Cavi (Cavi filmes). The video was very well received by critics and it is about how the residents of the community keep Rock’ Roll alive.
In the following years, Maldita has played in several festivals and in different regions of Brazil, sharing the stage with international bands like Marilyn Manson, Suicidal Tendencies, Faith No More and Deftones. In 2009, there was a 13 day tour in Holland and Belgium. In March 2010, the band was in a TV show (Fashion TV), hosted by Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), to talk about Rock bands in Rocinha Slum. In the TV show, during the presentation of the band, the metal icon grabbed a guitar and shared the stage with the band. Soon came the third album, “Nero” (2010), produced by Stanley Soares, who also produced two Sepultura albuns.
Appreciated by rock and industrial metal fans, Maldita enters a bold phase to launch an EP, before launching their fourth official record. The work is a short collection, much more intense.
With an unusual and explosive proposal, the new EP is named “Montagem” (Assembly), a name that already announces the controversy mixture between the most popular rhythm of Rio de Janeiro and heavy rock. Some may consider the idea of mixing funk and metal very eccentric, but the band makes it clear that, in addition to breaking paradigms and awaken a certain strangeness, it is made to continue expanding its musical characteristics.
Now, the new album includes five tracks with the following titles: “Mama Eu”, "Fish", “Jesus”, “Se eu Cair na sua casa” and “O que a lua traz consigo”, continuing the band`s usual ideas, only this time guided by intense funk beats. All the songs also gained English versions.
The second European tour occurred in September 2012, with 13 concerts that were to Portugal to Finland.
This led to a contract with Casket Music in Uk, that will take care of distribution throughout Europe.
For 2013 a new tour is scheduled in October.
