Malignancy

Malignancy is a Black Metal outfit combining together post-metal, black metal, and shoegaze from Wellington. Major influences include Wolves In The Throne Room, Krallice, Cobalt, Darkthrone, Chelsea Wolfe, H.R Gieger and the general decay of the human condition.

Started as a studio project in 2017, Malignancy released a short E.P titled Lost which was written to portray the absolute bleakness and horror of space. A limited run of CDs was released and Malignancy performed as a two-piece in small intimate gatherings. 

After Lost was released, Malignancy began working on a full length which gained the title Headless. After a year of writing and mixing, Headless was released in 2019 on all major distribution networks including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music alongside a few others. During this year, Malignancy patched in official new members including a permanent drummer, bassist, and a new vocalist. 

2019 has been a busy year for the band with Malignancy having the opportunity to open for international act Cult of Fire. Following this, Malignancy was booked into tour with other bands, and play various metal festivals in New Zealand. 

2020 will see the first-ever Malignancy music video, along with a split and new E.P representing a much rawer, bleaker tone.
