Festus singer Mallori Leitner is scheduled to perform Saturday, Sept. 5, at Six Flags' St. Louis's Celebration of the Arts.
Leitner is among a number of artists scheduled during the two-day event. She is set to take the stage at 4 p.m.
Leitner, 14, a freshman at Festus High School, spent the summer working with a talent agent.
Over the summer, she has performed several time at Kiener Plaza in St. Louis alongside other artists. "I love to perform," Leitner said. "I love to be on stage."
She has been working in the studio recording songs she hopes will be heard on the radio. Her efforts can be heard online at www.myspace.com/mallorithebakery.
Leitner said Festus music teacher Joshua Rhine urged her to pursue music. "He really encouraged me and gave me the confidence to do what I'm doing now," she said.
She describes her music as a combination of pop and rhythm and blues and said her music is similar to that performed by Miley Cyrus or Jordin Sparks.
"I'm really excited because now I'm able to perform my own songs," she said.
She is the daughter of Michelle and John Leitner of Festus.
Her mother said while the family also is encouraging Leitner's singing dream, they are trying to keep her grounded.

On 2 Records introduced it’s latest artist in mid 2009, Mallori, whose debut album hits stores in the spring of 2010. Under the musical direction of the multiple award winning songwriting duo of Brian K and Mark J of On 2 Productions, Mallori embodies today’s pop driven sound and young female attitudes by embracing independence, strength, and fierce individuality all with a party attitude and youthfulness that everyone seems to relate to across the board.
Preparing for her freshman release in April of 2010, Mallori is diligently in the studio with some of the hottest talent to create a virtual “Party On Disc” sound for this project. With the incredible attention to detail and production skills on the mixing boards, her debut CD is shaping up to be a powerhouse of hits that’s destined to keep everyone intrigued for a long while. Brian K ‘s songwriting contribution to the CD adds just the right amount of edgy innocents, giving the project just the right flavor to satisfy all cravings for a different kind of urban pop. At just 15 years old, Mallori has proven to be a fountain of talent that continues to surprise and delight her fans. Along with her “Girl next door” appeal, Mallori electrifies the stage with her performances and virtually brings the audience onto the stage with her.
The St. Louis Native began singing at a very early age and knew immediately that she wanted to be on the world’s stage performing.
