Bio

Josh Toyer started learning guitar in 2004, and started writing songs when he could string enough chords together. He first met Christian at high school and although they didn't know each other well, asked him to sing for his HSC music performance of Ben Folds Five's 'One Angry Dwarf And 200 Solemn Faces'. Since then the two have become good friends, playing music together. Josh, who pens most of the lyrics and melodies, has developed his music over the past four years and draws influence from the slightly unusual combination of Crowded House, Something For Kate and The Whitlams, in particular the lyrical sophistication of these bands. His vocals are reminiscent of Paul Dempsey, and his music sounds like Pete Murray and Josh Pyke in the style of the indie genre. Christian is the main vocalist, and with his extensive history in singing in musicals, has developed into an accomplished singer. The combination of their styles results in Malvina Parade- a band that speaks universal truths that will reach into your mind.
