Mamacoca

It has only been a few months since the completion of their debut album ‘Secrets’, and already has mamacoca signed a distribution deal that would see their album hit the shops shortly; this is on the back of countless radio plays, radio and tv interviews and live appearances nationally and abroad. Not satisfied with their current repertoire, mamacoca has greedily taken to the studios again and have continued their crusade-like writing campaign, completing tunes to be showcased on the stages of a number of 2008 summer festivals.

mamacoca blends emotions drawn from Herbie Hancock to Led Zeppelin, back to Stevie Wonder, producing a funky union of Soul and Jazz, and has been akin somewhat to the funkiness of Jamiroquai on a liberal diet of Quincy Jones.

Edward Carr B.Mus (Hons)

Guitar-man ‘Edd’ has a first class degree in Jazz, majoring in performance. He is active as a performer playing in theatre shows, with DJs, function bands, and numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles. He is the musical director for the 8-piece soul/function band 'Soul Reason'. Edward works as a guitar teacher both privately and in schools.

“Not every musician gets a chance to be in a band where you have such a creative set of players/composers around you all of the time. We have great relationship but ultimately, I’m in it for the music and that keeps getting better and better!”

James Peacock

James aka ‘Jay-P’ started learning piano at 7, and began playing in church bands at 12. He continued to take on a few small time bands in his teens, on keys, bass, drums and guitar amongst other instruments! At 16, he was already working as a sound engineer for dance/theatre group Dependance, and played the Green Festival and Belgium Rhythm and Blues Festival to crowds of thousands. More recently, Jay-P performed on lead keys for a major theatre show, ‘The King and I’; he has been active with his jazz combo band, jp jazz trio/quartet, playing local gigs to national ones, including the North East Business Awards ceremony in London. To top it off, he was headhunted to record with Simon Leng, and was produced by a crew of George Harrison’s and Madonna’s fame; the single is due for release shortly.

Jay-P is currently studying a jazz honours degree and teaches part time.

Adam Sinclair

The ‘Drummer Boy’ started playing drums age 10 after deciding that piano and trombone weren’t nearly loud enough. Soon after, while his friends were still swapping football stickers, he began his gigging career and quickly got hooked on performing. At age 15 he performed in front of a 15,000 strong audience and realised that was where he wanted to stay! Since then he has worked relentlessly as a musician, and last year achieved a first class honours degree in jazz, popular and commercial music. He naturally progressed onto music production, leading to producing a full-length album for eegluu:productions. The next step didn’t take long; he was soon after offered a position by one of the country's top recording studios, where he remains.


Graham Sinclair

With a bass playing dad and Led Zeppelin loving mom, ‘Speedo’ was raised on a solid diet of ‘low end’ even before birth. It took another 15 years to reach the far end of the instrument but a band soon formed with brother Adam and friend Peter Shoulder. Within 6 months they had hit the pubs to become local blues legends. Speedo left for University and used the time to hone his chops before returning to Newcastle. Although still trying to escape prog/classic rock and grunge tendencies, he now manages to list the likes of James Brown, the Meters and Jill Scott alongside Free, Zeppelin, Skunk Anansie as influences.

The start of his undying obsession with live vocal performance can be traced back to the age of 5, where he first exploited raw skills in dance, dramatics and music. It became obvious soon enough that he was happiest with a microphone in his hand whilst bouncing on stage, telling his stories through vocal expressions. The gigs got bigger as he travelled further, and still he remains insatiable after 7 countries on 3 continents to an audience of between 1 to many thousands.

In between bounces whilst feeling disillusioned with the state of the music industry, he established eegluu:records and subsequently eegluu:productions to turn the fortunes of the North East artistes around, all by the age of 30. And as they say, the rest is history.
