Fresh off the release of his single “I Feel Your Energy,” an up-tempo song with a catchy hook and endless instrumental layers, musical storyteller Mamello crafts thoughtful, exhilarating songs that provide a vivid soundtrack to his own personal journey. He offers up layers of melodies, harmonies and infectious beats that combine to tell lyrical tales of humanity’s shared joys and challenges and reflect his on-going mission to embrace a healthy, happy lifestyle. Mamello’s jazz background allows him to incorporate elements of hip-hop, pop and even electronic music into the many layers of his recordings. His instinct for improvisation and his ability to tap into the imagination and emotions of audiences both bring a supernatural element to his intimate live performances, allow him to stay in the moment and make all his work come alive.

A skilled jazz saxophonist, flutist and clarinetist as well as a clever poet, Mamello fell in love with groove-filled pop, R&B, jazz and hip-hop hits by artists including The Jackson 5, Kenny G and LL Cool J very early on. As he studied the ins and outs of a variety of instruments, his heart gravitated towards the saxophone because of his passion for the Blues and the music of Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Wynton Marsalis and other masters and mistresses of the style.

Mamello played saxophone throughout college, touring Europe and refining his abilities as an instrumental composer and performer, improvising notes over chord changes and learning all about sub-genres such as Latin, bebop, hard bop, fusion, funk and many others. He began to study poetry and write lyrics pulled from his adventures and the feelings deep within himself. This process helped him round out his songwriting skills while broadening his horizons through the music of boundary-pushing hip-hop artists like Common, Eryka Badu and Andre3000. After playing in several jazz groups and even a gospel rap duo, he embarked on a solo career, performing at open mics and garnering the attention of several indie labels. He was mentored by the late Chris Lighty (Nas, Ja Rule, Missy Elliot) of Violator, who encouraged him to refine his live show and collaborate on songs with other like-minded artists in order to reach more fans and gain more exposure.

Mamello’s jazz background and experience in professional live sound engineering allows him to regularly blend unexpected sounds and take a fresh approach to arrangement, composition and lyrics and has given him the opportunity to work on a multitude of projects, including record releases in multiple genres, tours, musicals, orchestral performances and television broadcasts.

Mamello will release E.L.I.A. (Energy Lives In All) in 2016. The danceable EP features the talents of producer Zoe Buddha (who also produced the single “I Feel Your Energy”) and radiates positive vibes.
