"Die to rise in spring - Review"

The Swedish metal band kick off their second full length in a fashion that would make any Rage Against The Machine fan dance with glee. The title and opening track starts with the kind of rapcore riff that may have been all the vogue a decade ago but seems almost refreshing now! Their last EP seemed to cunningly cover up their nu-metal roots and exposed their much more emotional dimension, but this album has managed to incorporate all previous styles. Not only is the opener a corker but the third and fourth tracks also get the thumbs up from me, enough for me to play all three tracks on the Rock And Hard Place radio programme with great reception from the listeners. It is perhaps track three, Reflecting Light, which is my favourite - with its blistering intro, its funk-laden verses and its melodic choruses. This band thankfully takes in a whole load of stylistic influences without being too bogged down or attracted to any particular one. Lyrically the album deals with the reoccurring themes of forgiveness, new beginnings and rebirth, hence the title of the album. Not only do we at Cross Rhythms dig Mammuth but it seems so does Fire Fly, who have given the band UK distribution through Embryo Industries. You choose whose is the bigger endorsement, theirs or ours, either way the band have once again delivered the goods! - www.crossrhythms.co.uk

"Live at Greenbelt festival review"

This is Mammuth's second time at Greenbelt, after their sensational set in 2004, and my first opportunity to see them play their latest album, 'Die To Rise In Spring'. In short they were fantastic, well worth the wait and so good to see live. After coming on to a great intro they launched into the album's title track, laying down the formula for the rest of their set. The Swedish band's unique blend of melodic/emotional hard rock meets rapcore somehow works amazingly well. As lead singer Daniel explained, many of their songs are prayers about life's problems and issues. Therefore his passion and emotion comes across in a deeply honest and sincere way, never appearing whiny or grating. Instead, the band stirred up the passions and emotions of the rest of the room, leaving everyone who wasn't drained or tired absolutely captivated and hopefully inspired. Please don't let this be their last Greenbelt. - www.crossrhythms.co.uk

"Die to rise in spring review"

I don't know what they put in the water in Sweden but it does something to the children.

The title track is a screaming prayer to the LORD. “I have known you for so long/I know that you care for me/Know that you never leave/ Something has changed in me/...Do I die to rise in spring” Mammuth are not afraid to hang their thoughts and feelings out for all of us to see.

Mammuth offers a great CD full of deep, thoughtful lyrics, and screams that cut through the fog to pound your ears. A truly powerful album.

For fans of Blindside, Soulfly, old school Spoken.

True hardcore.
