Bio
Mamselle Ruiz (birth name) is a Mexican singer-performer endowed with a dazzling voice. Following the current trends, she offers a unique Latin-jazz style inspired by the Latin American rhythms of her youth and her traditional Mexican folklore influences. She settle in the beautiful country of Canada in 2009, where she received a warm welcome by Canadians. Soon, her talent was recognized and she was invited to sing all around the country. In summer 2010, she became one of the performer of the show Les chemins invisibles (Cirque du Soleil) (more than 55 performances).
She was laureate of several awards for example Vue sur la releve (2011), and Grand Rendez-vous des musiques locales metissees de Vision Diversite (2011-2012). In May 2010, she presented her album Maiz, a north-south mix of her old and new life at Theatre Plaza full of people. The following month, she opens the show of the famous American-mexican singer Lila Downs(Frida) at the Palais Montcalm in Quebec city.
The year 2013 was a pivotal year for her. She received a nomination for the component World Music from Revelations Radio-Canada 2013-2014. During the same year, she performed in the biggest cites of Canada and Mexico giving more than a hundred shows. She returns with a second album titled Miel de cactus. More homogeneous than the precedent, her new album is steeped in traditional Mexican folklore. It twins Latin American standars with works of her own. The new album is like a picture of the Mexican beauty, as a mirror wanting to make us discover the splendor of her region.
