"Skinwalker"

Well, better late than never can be applied here with the new World War III cd and it was well worth the wait. Thirteen years after devastating the music scene with their brutal S/T debut, Mandy Lion has finally unleashed his 2nd cd upon the American audiences and they should take notice. This cd, When God Turned Away, is the perfect follow up and it rises above the tepid metal climate and with the right promotion, it could take over. The lyrics, the production, the vocal delivery, the music all mesh together to form a brilliant metal release. The production is beyond incredible in the fact that it blends everything together perfectly to give it a crisp, in your face sound with nothing buried. The music and the vocals are as said before, just brutal but yet so Melodic. The opener, Rise, sets the stage in such a superb way. This is the anthem for the year and one of the best real metal songs I have heard in awhile. It is only followed but by such killer tunes as Walk With Me, Let The Flesh Rule The Mind and Fighting for the Earth. The assault is broken up by a ballad, yes a ballad, on a WW3 cd. Garden Of Stone is a great ballad and Mandy’s heavy vocals attack this cut in perfect style, showing you a whole other side to his personality. With excellent cuts like The Hard Way, Reason and especially Kill The Lord Of This World, the cd is finished out in true WW3 style. If you liked the first WW3 cd, you will absolutely love this one. Mandy and company have outdone themselves here. This is a 10 out of 10.

"Diana Deville"

WWIII When God Turned Away (Reality/Sony)
This has some great tunes on it, including a remake of Warrior’s “Fighting for the Earth”. Great riffs that will draw you in, with Mandy Lion’s hypnotic vocals. Lion is one of those larger than life presences that doesn’t fit a label, he just IS metal in all its forms.

"SIXXWINE"

When we last caught up with Mandy Lion he was making a guest appearance on George Lynch’s "Sacred Groove" disc & from there he went on to do a project with Jake E. Lee. I was fan of WWIII’s last disc which was issued in 1990. If you’re lucky you can pick that up in the used racks for a reasonable price. Mandy has reformed WWIII with an entire new line-up & has been kind enough to bring us "When God Turned Away." To say that this record is a dark would be an understatement, even with the grim theme of the record, Mandy manages to keep the listener glued to the stereo. He has grown as a songwriter & hasn’t lost any of his vocal ability since the last time I heard him. The band sounds tight, so I doubt that this is a half effort to rekindle what once was. The production on this record is equal to one of a band that probably had 10 times the budget & Sledge provides enough sonic boom to keep you groovin’ all the way through. Rush out & buy this record, you will not be disappointed, I think it’s superb. I hope we won’t have to wait 13 years for another record.

"David L. Wilson"

Tracks as thunderously heavy as ‘Rise’, ‘Let The Flesh Rule The Mind’, and ‘The Hard Way’ would be impossible to find anywhere else. The remake of Warrior’s ‘Fighting For The Earth’ goes far beyond the drive of the original and the title track is likely to scare off any who thought that this record could be lifted from as much as the first one was by acts like Rob Zombie.

Mandy Lion's World War Three (WWIII);
An artist with a band band that defines heavy in a BIG way with monstrous grooves, catchy riff-laden songs and a unique sonic signature completely unto itself.
Singer, mastermind, and front man Mandy Lion has led this electrifying band through the years with his incredible voice and larger-than-life persona. With an original lineup that included Joe Floyd (Warrior) on guitar, Jimmy Bain (Rainbow, Dio) on bass, and Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio) on drums, Mandy achieved an intense sound early on, setting WWIII vastly apart from other groups of the Heavy Metal genre in the process. But his success did not end there. Mandy has fronted countless other line-ups with such legendary musicians as George Lynch (Dokken, Lynchmob), Jake E. Lee (Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, WWIII), James Kottack (Kingdome Come, Scorpions, WWIII), Mikkey Dee (King Diamond, Dokken, Motorhead, WWIII), and the list goes on...

The newest incarnation of WWIII is better than ever! Rick Plester (the Maestro) on guitar, Jon Purpura on bass, and Pete Holmes on drums join Mandy in a fresh lineup that rocks and roars like never before! The current songs are great too. "When God Turned Away" is the latest CD release. It is out on Sony/Reality Records and it contains such Metal masterpieces as "Rise," "Walk with Me," and "The Empire of Ignorance." Pick up a copy of this album at your local record store or contact us for direct ordering information.

Searing and unorthodox, the guitar-slinging of "The Maestro" Rick Plester is both exhilarative and stimulating in its own reich. Rick's guitar solos contain melodic flavors from around the world; Sometimes he is subtle and reserved but without warning he unleashes a flurry of licks and six-string pyrotechnics, executing a unique modal style that soars into a realm of guitar wizardry no one has gone before.

Low frequency devastation rich with thundering undertones and just the right amount of sonic girth to gorge the melodic gap between guitar and drums- That is what Jon Purpura does better than anyone on Earth. Jon Purpura is a true monster with a sound and style all his own and the fact that he effortlessly fills the legendary Jimmy Bain's shoes says it all.

Cannons may fire and bombs may explode, but that's just child's play next to Pete Holmes on drums. Pete's ruthless style and infinite groove harnesses more than enough energy to beat the masses into Heavy Metal submission, quite literally. He is hands down one of the hardest hitting drummers ever and with the finesse of a neurosurgeon and the horsepower of a top-fuel dragster, his playing could not be more perfect for this band.

Leather-clad with his beloved Mollosser to his left and his 2000 LB custom Chevy V8 motorcycle to his right is none other than "The Beast" himself, Mandy Lion. The most dynamic and engaging front man music has ever known, Mandy dominates any concert venue with his uniquely textured voice and ultra-powerful stage presence. His insightful lyrics of imagery and vision relay important messages while painting the reality of the world in which we live. They even made a movie about him... Mandy is the real live Van Helsing and much, much more than the movie could ever be!
