Biography

"With Lilith Fair sincerity, 'comedy indie chick rock' act Mandy Steckelberg is strumming an acoustic and spewing delicate vitriol...she's like Sarah McClachlan on truth serum." (LA Weekly)

After years performing sketch comedy and improv in New York City, Mandy Steckelberg became a singer/songwriter, specializing in achey love songs and comedy.

"Comedy and a soulful sensibility collide with this quirky artist, but she's got a sweet smooth voice and her heartfelt stuff will pleasantly surprise you..." (CDBaby.com)

Good Times Ahead

Written By: Mandy Steckelberg

I don't wanna write one more song
Talkin bout the things that's gone wrong
I don't wanna cry 'til the whiskey's gone
I don't wanna write one more song

I don't wanna love one more man
Who's doin the best that he can
Oh we have a blast but we just can't last
So I don't wanna love one more man

I see good times ahead
There ain't gonna be tears in my bed
No I'm gonna be happy instead
Didja hear what I said?

I ain't gonna pack one more box
I ain't gonna have no more talks
I've gotta choose nothin to lose
I ain't gonna pack one more box

And you're gonna wish me luck
Watch me drive away in my truck
I ain't got a map but I won't take no crap
So go on and wish me luck

Cuz I see good times ahead
There ain't gonna be no more tears in my bed
No I'm gonna be happy instead
Didja hear what I said?
Good times ahead

Oh this time I'm takin a stand
And this world is gonna deal me a hand
And you ain't in the plan
For good times ahead
There ain't gonna be no more tears in my bed
No I'm gonna be happy instead
Didja hear what I said?
Good times ahead
That's where I'll be
Good times ahead
For me
Good times

Rainy Day

Written By: Mandy Steckelberg

I can't say what took so long
To figure out that nothin's wrong
But you won't budge
An all you're holdin is your grudge
All you're holdin is your grudge

There was a one-hand man
And he had a plan
But that was before the war
And it took a bit
Where he felt like shit but he
Doesn't miss it anymore
He drinks his gin and he talks about politics with a grin
And he can't remember folding clothes without his chin

You gotta learn to be strong and get along
Cuz you're not the only one it's rainin' on
Can't give in, you gotta live
And if you get wet, well you'll dry again
It's just another rainy day
It's just another rainy day
And it's ok

An old woman loved a cowboy
Sixty years or so
The day he died she cried
It took a while to let him go
But she learned to swim and she took up cards, in spite of him
And she likes to see the ocean
So she drives there now and then

You gotta learn to be strong and get along
Cuz you're not the only one it's rainin' on
Can't give in, you gotta live
And if you get wet, well you'll dry again
It's just another rainy day
It's just another rainy day
And it's ok

I can't say what took so long
To figure out that nothin's wrong
But you won't budge
An all you're holdin is your grudge
And it felt like shit and I had to move along
And I can't remember who I was before I wrote these songs

You gotta learn to be strong and get along
Cuz you're not the only one it's rainin' on
Can't give in, you gotta live
And if you get wet, well you'll dry again
It's just another rainy day
It's just another rainy day

Getting Over You

Written By: Mandy Steckelberg

Getting over you is the last thing I ever wanted to do
There's always tomorrow to drown in my sorrow
And getting over you is too tough
Cuz tears are not enough
I can't go on till you're really gone
Really gone

So I...I wish you would die
I'll be better off I know when you lie six feet below
Yes I...really wish you would die
I know it's wrong for me to sing this song
But I wish you would die

Nothing makes me smile
But the thought of you
Choking on salad (It's true!)
Or having a heart attack (It should)
Or maybe a bridge will collapse (That's good!)
And you can call me morbid or gross but if a Mack truck came too close
I'd dance a jig
I think you're a pig (cuz you never said you were sorry for being such a jerk)

So I...I wish you would die
You may not like my little song
but one bad person would be gone
Yes I...really wish you would die
I'd hide your pills if you were terminally ill
I'd be inspired if you were fuel for a fire
I'd thank my stars if you were hurled from a car
I would not hedge if you were kicked from a ledge
It may seem depraved but hey I'd dance on your grave, cuz
I wish you would die

Gone
Gone
Gone
