Biography

Manhattan Craze is a Kenosha, Wisconsin based post-rock/emo band. Their genre is one of it's own. Each member has their own unique style of playing, which gives the band a distinct sound.

Founding members Kasey and Chase Clark started the band a few years back. They would both sit down and play guitars together and make music almost every day.

There came a time where they needed other members in the band to fill up the spots. The Clarks went through a few different people before they found the right choice. Derek Hill started jamming with the band in October 2011 and was instantly hooked with their sound.

Lyrics

One Time In New Mexico

Written By: Kasey Scott Clark

You were a ghost that summer night,
an emptiness in your eyes,
but from a borrowed throat, you choked,
"I am just as I used to be.
I am just as I used to be."
But you were not.
You were just as you'd always said
you would never be,
and your brother could tell that you'd stopped
letting it haunt you
and left half your heart in the past,
as if time would forgive you.

Of Rivers And Oceans: Part I

Written By: Kasey Scott Clark

i swallowed the summer heat,
wondering if you felt the same as your words tried to claim
when you wrote me that damning letter.
(i wish i'd kept it to hide it away with everything else,

but what would that change?)

it still would have sounded the same when you said,
"meet me anywhere surrounded and far from here,
and i'll put the words in your mouth that you need to escape me."

i was not prepared to be spoken for,
but i had to agree, disassemble and breathe
(lest surrender to honesty).

then the wind picked up to embolden me,
echoing everything that i said.

"i could be so much more."

Of Rivers And Oceans: Part II

Written By: Kasey Scott Clark

I could be so much more.
I could be so much more.
I could be so much more.
We are so far away
from where we belong.
Drink up; open your mind
to this world beyond.
It's all we can do to ignore
why we've yet to find the peak
and write songs we can sleep through,
and write songs we can dance to,
and write songs we can live through,
and write songs that will make us believe.
Can you feel the light
in your throat grow bright?
Look up; open your eyes
to this perfect sight.
The pinnacle of this
is knowing we will never die,
and write songs we can sleep through,
and write songs we can dance to,
and write songs we can live through,
and write songs that will make us believe
in anything but god.
I'll savor the self-reduction.
I'll savor the self-reduction.
I'll savor the self-reduction.
I'll savor the light.

Greener Lands

Written By: Kasey Scott Clark

When spring thawed the Midwest,
you fled into a hazy sleep,
a fog to which you escaped
every time the world was changing.
I followed you there once,
on the train, to find you
inhaling the storm clouds
like you could not catch your breath.
It was just like you to admire the scenery
while you gathered up your nerve.
Now I'm burdened as witness,
powerless to fight the coming end
and terrified I might not see it.
I followed you there once,
on the train, to find you
inhaling the storm clouds
like you could not catch your breath.
It was just like you to admire the scenery
while you gathered up your nerve.
You said, "This rain in my lungs
is just proof of what I've done."
You said, "This rain in my lungs
is just proof of what I've done,
but you were never meant for this."
When spring thawed the Midwest,
you fled into a hazy sleep,
a fog to which you escaped
every time the world was changing.

Ghosting

Written By: Kasey Scott Clark

i rested my head on your chest and listened for relief;
i think you were waiting for it too,
but there were only jagged breaths as you slurred words down my spine,
tempting tense nerves to scream,
but i would not let them form words to plead,

"stay!"

so i kept my tongue tightly tied behind my teeth
(where it could not betray me),
and i left it there, waiting for relief or rest.
