Manicdown

In order to create, one must experience and one must struggle, and where true creation exists, so must passion. “Manicdown” and its music is the culmination of years of experience and effort, and was created with a passion that is unmistakable, and unforgettable.

Dan Swinimer has played drums and sung backup vocals for the Vancouver band “Superbeing” since it’s inception and has also been an instrumental part of the song-writing process, co-writing many of Superbeing’s staples. He has also been involved in countless studio projects, as well as fill in spots with the likes of Todd Kerns and Gob. In addition, Dan has become a talented producer, and has shown an uncanny ability to find and exploit a song’s true strengths. His knack of uncovering potential in both a song and an artist make him a true rising star as a producer and co writer.

Over Superbeing’s existence, Dan has written many songs of a slightly different genre, and it is these songs that make up the brand new project “Manicdown”. Over the course of the past 8 months, Dan has set up his own studio, and alone, recorded over 20 songs that are now a part of Manicdown’s repertoire. No other musicians appear on these recordings.

Manicdown’s sound is unique in it’s texture. The music combines a raw energy and passion, with complex vocal and guitar harmonies, thoughtful and relatable lyrics and most importantly, unforgettable melody. Soaring lead vocal lines hover over the blanket of music underneath, creating a memorable sound all it’s own. Manicdown also has a unique ability to successfully travel from one style threshold to another without alienating the listener, offering a variety long forgotten in rock and roll.

It has been over the past several months that a band has been assembled, and Manicdown’s live performances have begun. With several performances to date, and many more scheduled, Manicdown has translated seamlessly to the live medium, and the response has been overwhelming. I know this, because I have watched this amazing talent unfold…
