Biography

Manmade Mountains is a band that believes in the soul of music. What attracts us to the music we listen to and what we put into the music we write is our interpretation of what soul is. Some of our biggest influences range from The Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show to Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes, from Dispatch and Mumford & Sons and to Slightly Stoopid and a lot in between. Feel free to check us out on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook and we hope you enjoy our music!

Lyrics

We Were There (Banjo Song)

Written By: Manmade Mountains

I am not a slave of thought
My heart has not been bought

Well I know I still have my soul
Where I go, there I'll be home

The wind has been written
Like all else our maker wrote by himself

Well I know I still have my soul
Where I go, there I'll be home

Shallow men and their reflections have deep problems
Those who die to themselves will live more than anyone else

Before the sun came to be
Before there were any who could see
Before time was released
We were there, and we were free

Well I know I still have my soul
Where I go, there I'll be home

Birds and the Bees

Written By: Manmade Mountains

Do you ever, ever wish you were with the birds and the bees?
Just floatin' along as they sing their song up in the summer breeze.
No I never ever thought we would act so selfishly
Buying land for gold, our souls are sold to a sickening industry

I said hey, I said oh
We've gotta live for one another, treat each other like your brother
I said hey, I said oh
We can always find our way back home, we just lost our way along the road

Will we ever find a way to change and straighten our priorities?
How can we love tryin' to climb above and crush each other's dreams?
Will we ever situate ourselves among our fellow brother's needs?
Kneel before the common man and wash the poor beggar's feet?

I said hey, I said oh
We've gotta live for one another, treat each other like your brother
I said hey, I said oh
We can always find our way back home, we just lost our way along the road

We can find our way back home
Separation is our devastation, let it go

I said hey, I said oh
We've gotta live for one another, treat each other like your brother
I said hey, I said oh
We can always find our way back home, we just lost our way along the road

From the Stratosphere

Written By: Manmade Mountains

Steadily forgettin' all the trouble life is lettin' me go through
Changing colors, so tired of blue
I can't see what I can't feel, no I can't
I'll never give up, I'm never renewed
Progressively regrettin' all the opportunities that have passed by
Now I'm making a stop and startin' again
I know you wanna know you wanna know you wanna know what I feel like
It's not that complex, just misunderstood

High above the clouds where our minds meet, that's where I'll be
The stars are right beside me, just outta my reach

Sittin' still listening to all the traffic crossin' the mainstreet
From way up here, it's still so near
Close to all the people, I can hear them slowly losin' their minds now
They're losing control, but they go right on cue
Suddenly I see a man walkin' out from under the old bridge
He looks a little perplexed, you know he's so confused
You know he's thinkin' bout how to go about thinkin' bout nothin
So he rolls up his mind, and he heads to the sky

High above the clouds where our minds meet, that's where I'll be
The stars are right beside me, just outta my reach

High above the clouds
Waiting for the crowds
Losing all our doubts
We haven't lived 'til right now

High above the clouds where our minds meet, that's where I'll be
The stars are right beside me, just outta my reach
