Man Of The Hour

Man of the Hour is an energetic progressive pop-punk band hailing from the Welsh Valleys. Man Of The Hour experiment with elements of pop-punk from the various reincarnations of the genre over the years, from the early days of Blink 182 and New Found Glory to the more recent influences of Four Year Strong and Set Your Goals. Man Of The Hour bring unique, original combinations of guitar rhythms and soaring, addictive melodies to an often crowded genre, Man of the Hour set out to sound like nothing you've ever heard before, whilst at the same time resembling a long lost friend.

When Richard Meyrick (Vocals/Guitar) and former synth player Matthew Morris formed Man Of The Hour back in 2008 they set out to create a synth lead powerpop/pop-punk band after being heavily influenced by bands like Motion City Soundtrack, Farewell and Blink 182. Man Of The Hour’s debut track ‘You’re So Make Believe’ saw them be given the honour of ‘house band’ on Switch with Nick Grimshaw in mid 2008, before they had played one show! Nick Grimshaw declared that Man Of The Hour has an 'instant knack for partying' after hearing of their house party exploits. After that success Man Of The Hour played countless gigs throughout Wales building a solid following along the way. Although in mid 2009 Man Of The Hour and former vocalist Kevin Barnes parted ways due to a conflict of interest between some members of the band, this prompted Richard to pick up vocal duties. Man Of The Hour then went on to record the track ‘Shatter’, which saw them again being featured on countless radio stations throughout the UK.

In early 2010 Man Of The Hour saw James Churchill (Drums), Luke Ryan (Guitar) and founding member Matthew Morris leave the band due to other commitments. With this ushered in a new era within Man Of The Hour, Josh Delaney replaced James on Drums, Owen Skym replaced Luke on Guitar and the band decided to drop the synth entirely to focus more on their ‘hard edge’. With a new found love for hardcore and metal sounds Man Of The Hour started to produce tracks like ‘How D’Ya Like Them Apples?’ and ‘Adam, You’ve Got Lemonade’, which has again seen them featured on Radio One, as well as Nation Radio, Amazing Radio and a host of student, hospital, internet and charity radio stations.

For the next year everything was going smoothly for Man Of The Hour, they recorded their first EP ‘I Can’t Believe Man Of The Hour Is A Pop-Punk Band!?’ and were still gigging regularly. Then in early 2011 Owen stated he was leaving the band due to personal circumstances, shortly after Alex Thomas (Bass) also left the band to pursue other things. Where most bands would give up Man Of The Hour did not, Richard recruited his old Alkalay band mate Gareth Burrough on Bass and from then on Man Of The Hour have continued to write catchy, feel good tracks with a bite that’ll leave you wanting more.
