Born in Bogota, Colombia, he spent his childhood between Bogota, Cali, and Barranquilla. At the age of 19 Manolo moved to the United States, where he obtained a degree in sound engineering and business administration. Manolo began his career as a young musician, playing for various musical groups and small orchestras, until one day he decided to follow his instinct and saw the need for a Latin orchestra, that’s when Manolo formed his first band called EL EQUIPO.

With great success, Manolo began his career as an entrepreneur and manager of his own band. After making a name for himself in the music industry, Manolo created another band: EL KARTELL (Latin Pop Music Band) and with his orchestra playing at special events, weddings and parties, Manolo was well known in the music industry.

In 1985 and 1986, a prestigious Jewish family (the Wagenberg’s) became the first Jewish family to open their doors to Manolo and his orchestras; playing at the wedding of one of the family members, Manolo quoted, “This wedding opens the door to a long standing relationship and business with the Jewish community”, after this, Manolo’s Orchestra began playing at various Jewish weddings and festivities.

Recognizing his success in the Jewish community, Manolo was able to learn more about Jewish music and its tastes, leading him to even specialize in their music. He also hired professional musicians from Israel to join his orchestras. With this great impact on the Jewish community, Manolo’s Orchestra reaches many of these communities in different states and countries such as New York, Texas; Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Israel, performing in more than 100 baptisms and weddings throughout the year. During the millennium (2000) with the changes in the music industry and its new genres, Manolo decided to incorporate these changes in his orchestras, playing more modern music and all kinds of styles.

In 2003, Manolo became more and more recognized, so the company Discos Fuentes hired him as manager of the famous group Sonora Carruseles. The group begins to play all over the world and with growing influence in the Jewish community Manolo and his orchestra sometimes play in Israel; regions such as Haifa. Manolo Puerto’s latest successes are his Groove Republik Band (American group) which has brought a new cultural mestizaje. - Publisher Example
