"Abra sua Mente (Cuzão)"

Being a person who has shown interest in chaos theory for the last couple months and almost decided to devote his Masters thesis on the topic (later abandoned however due to no distributed solution), this famous phrase is still the first as well as the de facto descriptive example of this idea: “Does the flap of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil set off a tornado in Texas?” Well, until the time we’ll be predicting weather changes and earthquakes using the butterfly effect, let’s just sew hopes towards endless calculations. But when it comes to music, I just cannot resist. There’s always a laboratory to defy your tolerance.

I was thinking of some chaotic songs a while ago. I defined chaotic songs as the ones that started peacefully and then ruthlessly burst into turmoil. Super Furry Animals “Mountain People” is definitely one of them. I’m not going to give you a list now, maybe later but for tonight I’m happy to bring you something straight from the heart of this theory.

There’s restless chaos all over this Atomic Mambo All-Stars jam. It’s all fusion and noise, almost impossible to settle down. The crew behind this project have all been part of Brazilian alternative music scene: Zimmer (MASTA DOLLA Z a.k.a. SPOONY BLING), the experimental guitarist Gabriel Orlandi (NOIZ-A-BOMB), MC KimZac (MR.KRACKER, THE VOICE), and the uncategorizable Edu K (CAPTAIN TILT). Together they’re breaking Death Grips walls. Of course I’m still enjoying The Money Store. I think it’s an amazing example of experimental hip-hop. But if you’re looking for more complications, untimely shifts and brakes-drive-brakes-drive distorted synths, this can steal your sleep away. Sorry, but I don’t know where you live right now. Though with a blue vase of roses in bloom from Stockholm, I hope you have a peaceful night.

If you’re still thinking about losing it even more, the full album Atomic Shakedown is streaming here. You just had a taste of the opener up there. - Ghost FM
