Since she emailed me yesterday, Manta Rayz’ track “African Jam” has been my jam. She says that what she does can be considered DJing but she ultimately “tries to create an environment instead of just playing the songs. I use a lot of found sounds and different effects.”
The result is a vibrant and colorful venture into tropicalia dance music. Hand drums roll tribal beats throughout as samples of traditional African songs shine through the leafy jungle that is “African Jam.” - neonwaves

Bio
I guess what I do would technically be called Djing, but I try to take it to this other realm. Instead of just fading two tracks into each other I have four channels going. Each song is a mashup, effected mix of sounds, creating an environment instead of just playing a song. I try to mash up indie favorites like Of Montreal with house beats to create a whole new bump to old favorites. I like using a lot of sound effects like nature sounds to help promote a certain atmosphere. I experiment with different effects which can create a messed up carnival like feel to the set. I really like making each song my own and creating something new from something old.
