Mantis Fist began in the year 1999, with Steve aka OKI, and the twins Keith, and Ken. We had our first show at a penthouse party for the new millinium with a bunch of friends. The show went so good, we then we booked our FIRST real show. At LAUNCHPAD, they let us perform on a wendsday night it was called, new-music-night. The place was pack. thanks to us and other new bands that played that night like FEELS LIKE SUNDAY and DV8. We performed our first FallCrawl at LAUNCHPAD 2000 and have been in almost every Spring and Fall Crawl since. (very cool festival for alb.,nm.) Albuquerque has been good to us. Bars like LAUNCHPAD, BURTS TIKI LOUNGE, the late-GOLDENWEST, EL REY, MOONLIGHT LOUNGE, ATOMIC CANTINA, 4TH STREET PUB, also old greats like BREWSTERS, BLUE DRAGON, AND CLUB R&B all have been very helpful and friendly. Out side of Alb. we have performed in cities like Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, Santa Fe, Gallup, El Paso , Tucson, Salt Lake City, and Denver. Also we have been lucky enough to have performed with greats like SAGE FRANCIS, Akil, 2 MEX, PHUNK JUNKIES, GLUEY BROTHERS, SMOKE, and the 2006 and 2007 WORLD-RAP-CHAMPION- ILLMACULATE, and many more. Thanks to all you who voted for us in the BEST OF BURQUE 2006 issue of the Alibi, we were voted-"BEST HIP HOP BAND in ALBUQUERQUE" by you the readers of the weekly "ALIBI". We also won-"BEST HIP HOP BAND in NEW MEXICO" in the New Mexico Showcase Battle of the Bands. Thanks for your suport.
