Honey Buns and Club Soda
The Dopeness PT II

Manuel Silva started rapping at the tender age of eight years old. Growing up in a low income housing unit, hip hop was very popular and he seemed very interested. At the age of 13 Silva hooked up with a DJ that lived on the same floor as me named Badd Lukk. Together Silva and Badd Lukk would record simple freestyles over instrumentals to very popular tracks.

They both got more serious when Lukk learned how to produce tracks and in turn introduced Silva to some programs to help him produce himself as well. Lukk moved down south not too long after that. Since the age of 13 Silva has been tweaking his musical style. He has made all types of genres from dub step to ambient. He has also worked on multiple hip hop CDs. Until recently he has not been comfortable with his sound in general, so while he was in high school he would only hand the small projects out to a couple of close friends. Now it is a bit different.

In 2009, Silva released "The Dopeness." It was a project that described the wonders that come with growing up in the inner city. In early 2010, Silva released a project by the name of "Honey Buns and Club Soda." This project focused on his experiences as a poor young man of mixed ethnicity. And now he is preparing to release his new project "There Was...," which he hopes will be the project that gets him signed.
