Bio

+++ Currently seeking new session drummer who is available to record drums Spring/ Summer 2014 either in Seattle, a controlled environment with clean power where I can travel to record you or your own multitrack studio if the fidelity of your recording capabilities is consistent with stringent full-spectrum audio quality standards. I might need replacement interpretation for drums on 2 previously recorded songs.+++

Mapholder is an alternative/ progressive music project of Kristy Narkunas, a 6'5" freelance massage therapist in Seattle burdened in the formal traditions of audio engineering and recording production. She currently makes her living cleaning houses and suffers from extreme artistic paralysis. Kristy writes all songs and performs all instruments except most drums, although she pretends to play drums on occasion. Eventual plans to assemble a handful of special musicians after a formal record release and play some shows every once in awhile where fans are known to exist.

Kristy beckons sonic ecstacy with her guitar and sings as Mapholder. Her playing style is dark and riff-based with a megalithic rock overtone. Live shows will vary between electric and acoustic sets and occasional backing musicians will appear and disappear.

Mapholder has been compared to PJ Harvey, Diamanda Galas, Chris Cornell, "Alice in Chains with Annie Lennox on vocals" and "...like The White Stripes only more badass!". Expect to be mesmerized by a Gibson-weilding Amazon.

Early recordings have been released independently, in very limited edition. Mapholder's first release was 2002's "Live at The Acropolis", followed by 2006's "Traumatic Time Machine"- both a combination of early 4-track minidisk home recordings, futile attempts at programming a drum machine, live acoustic sets and several incomplete studio productions. Live performances are rare and mesmerizing.
