Maple Sparrow

This Friday, March 10th, Maple Sparrow is playing in downtown Winter Garden as part of the Fridays on the Plaza music series! Maple Sparrow is a Florida native, born and raised in Lake County. She resides in the quaint town of Howey in the Hills. She was always writing little poems and songs as a youngster and started playing guitar at 15. However it didn't really occur to her to combine the two until a little later! She started playing in an all original band with a friend. They called it Chief'n Indians. Maple’s main instrument was the mountain dulcimer which still makes an appearance from time to time. She moved on from that project eventually and started a new band with Wes Morrison called Pickens Ivey. She has played with that project for the past 5 years, however her main focus is now on her solo career and she is currently recording her first album! She has a really talented backing band who is recording with her and they perform together as well. They are all part of a newly founded musician's guild called Flatland Sound Collective. It is basically a group of like-minded folks looking out for each other and putting out art on their own terms. They throw fundraisers and benefit shows and help each other with booking gigs and backing one another in band and recording settings. You can often find Maple playing bass for Anthony Leon or Zack Maruniak. Sometimes you can find her on the drums with Chad Cook (who is the resident Maple Sparrow and Flatland drummer).
