Bio
MAqam is considered as one of the most famous musical ensembles in the Middle East. It was established in 2006 by MAias Alyamani in Vienna with a great success all across Europe. Since then MAqam has performed more than 200 concerts in 22 countries in Europe and the Middle East.
Maqam consists of five young musicians from the Arab world, sharing the highest level of musical education as well as a special talent and passion for their work. The ensemble is specialized in performing Middle Eastern and Arabic music with a modern, structured but accessible approach, all the while preserving the spirit and character of the Arabic music and art.
MAqam has its own original repertoire, composed or arranged especially for it in MA genre. The MA music genre is not directly connected with a definite harmonic or rhythmic pattern nor with specific instrumentation, rather is it about capturing the soul of the Middle Eastern music and presenting it in an innovative style.
