Bio
Maral is a Jersey girl with roots from Newark, the native home of one of her jazz idols, Sarah Vaughan. Growing up in a culturally rich city gave her an appreciation for many diverse types of music, which have influenced her songwriting since she was 12.
In Newark Maral received most of her musical training, from a local Community school of the arts as a child, and later to Rutgers in Newark, where she received classical vocal training. As a soprano in the University Choir, she also toured Europe and recorded classical, modern, spiritual, and folk pieces in several different languages.
For the past several years, she has been a choir singer and soloist in several different churches in her area. She continues to write poetry, songs, and lyrics. She has received honorable mention and she has been a runner-up in the VH1 song of the year songwriting contest. She is a graduate of Rutgers University.
