Bio

LA-based band, Marathona finds its roots in an Alternative Rock based sound that is woven together by the use of intentional lyrics and a variety of traditional instruments. It creates a style and sound that is emotional and makes you want to listen again to fully understand and unpack the experience.

With their first album release, “Again Someday”, Marathona is setting out to make you feel the emotion that the music portrays. And it is with this emotion that Marathona seeks to stir passion.

If you listen closely you will here influences of bands and styles from many eras and genera’s. U2 and Coldplay’s driven Rock, the Beatles catchy pop structure, acoustic roots in musicians like Tom Petty, Willy Nelson, and Iain Archer, intentionally woven and artistic lyrics in musicians like Counting Crows, and Alt Rock styles that have a hint of bands like Snow Patrol and Goo Goo Dolls.

Instrumentally, Marathona’s composition takes on intricate rhythms and beats and the ideal that less is more; using each instrument and sound intentionally. These along with the soft and gritty vocals of lead singer Elijah Grindstaff make up the sound that is Marathona.
