Bio
Marbles For Eyes was formed by singer-songwriter-guitarist, Matthew Smith, in 2003. Starting out on the acoustic guitar and and playing with an occasional sit-in musician until finally putting together a full band in 2005. This group included present lead guitar player, Bryan Phillips and bass player Caleb Barton along with several different drummers. The line-up now includes Roman Frabel on drums. For the last couple years, Marbles For Eyes has been pleasing crowds in Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
Though the sound of Marbles For Eyes began as an acoustic coffee shop sound it has evolved into an edgy, eclectic sound. Listening to Marbles For Eyes, you may pick out influences from every era of music, though with a mix of their individual personalities. You may hear melodic lines played from Bryan Phillips’ guitar that will bring Charlie Parker to mind with a twist of the style of Dean Ween or Wilco. The rhythm section holds down the timing and tight structures that allow for the melodies of the vocals and lead guitar to shine. The rhythm guitar and vocalization of Matthew Smith will really bring the meaning of each song to you and make you feel what life and this music is all about.
