Bio

Marc Ayza, drummer, composer and eventually DJ is one of the most restless
musicians from the Spanish scene, participating actively since the last 10
years.

He is characterized by an incisive touch and a great musicality and moving
with the same fluency at the scene of Jazz and HipHop, he always gives his
personal touch whether it is be a sideman or leading his own groups.

Born in Barcelona in 1976 and from an early age he developed an interest in
music from his parents, great music lovers.

He studied music in school Luthier, drums with Quim Sole, Jordi Rossy and
Peer Wyboris and harmony with Lluis Verges.

He has been part of the groups of Raynald Colom, Perico Sambeat, Victor
de Diego and he he has played with international musicians as Antonio
Hart, Mulgrew Miller, Sheila Jordan, Steve Kuhn, Seamus Blake and a long
etcetera.

He currently leads two projects: Marc Ayza Group and Beat'a'Boom, with DJ
Helios and the MC Blurum 13.

“Live at home” is the title of the forthcoming second album from the drummer
Marc Ayza with his current group. It is an album with new compositions written
in the same spirit with which he captivated the public and critics four years
ago, when he put out the revolutionary Offering (Fresh Sound New Talent,
2008).
As on that occasion, groove, jazz, soul and hip hop go hand in hand in a
kind of collective celebration where the magnetic beat of the drums blends
with MC Core Rhythm’s pungent poetry, where the decks of disc jockey
Helios mix with the flowing register of the pianist Mas, and where the strings
of Warburton’s double bass mark the lysergic beats of this all-enveloping
approach.
All accents of black music are present in Marc Ayza’s universe: from Gil Scott
Heron to Marvin Gaye, from John Coltrane to J Dillah, from the Bronx to the
Raval.
