Marcel Cranc

Marcel Cranc - with this name the Majorcan composer Miquel Vicensastre introduces himself. As if it were a pseudonym, Vicensastre has created this alter ego. That way he is trying to dissociate himself from the classical and experimental music that he has produced up to now. The name Marcel Cranc is a homage to the island Majorca, where the Sea and the sky are always present, and cranc (the Catalan word for crab) is the symbol of the animal which moves backward, to its origin.

Up to the moment Marcel Cranc has published three albums. "Animal Frágil" (Azul, in 2006), where he mixed electronic music together with his song, whereby still tracks of classical music are to be recognised. “Ara” (Primeros Pasitos, in 2008) is an album where electronic music keeps persisting, but the presence of guitars and stringed instruments comes out stronger. Finally, last year he composed "Imagina" (Primeros Pasitos in 2010). The contents of this album tend much stronger towards band music. Guitars and acoustic sounds take over the leading role. In June, 2011 he has contributed the song "Vos estimo a tots igual" to a CD with different musical versions, initiated by his compatriot Antonia Font. Editor was the Catalan music magazine "Enderrock". In September, 2011 he will be back to the recording studio to do an EP, containing five rather electronical songs. The EP will be named: “Fobos y Beimos”. The phases of the moon and its effects are highly praised in there. By the end of the year it will be provided for sale by his new record label and management office Music Bus in Barcelona.
