Marcelo Coelho

Marcelo Coelho is a
brazilian composer and saxophonist whose work have been recently recognized for
it´s maturity and consistence. Conciling intuition and creativity with the
academic approach, his work is based on the search for a dialogue between
different perspectives on music and art, in which the classical and the popular
search for their intersections with visual arts, literature and dance. What we
got in result is an original sonority, based on an interdisciplinary and contemporary
approach, seeking to communicate in a genuine way with people, without
excessive hermetics.

With a Jazz Performance
Master at University of Miami and a doctorate in composition at University of
Campinas (Unicamp), in the present Marcelo develops his creative process at the
University of São Paulo (USP), on the Composition and Improvisation Lab of this
University.  The work Marcelo have
been doing there is related with his post-doctor programme on creative process
in music.

He has been playing in festivals in South America and Europe leading his own projects. Coelho recorded nine cds under his name, expanding the creative process as known as McLAV.In Concept.
